HORRIBLE SERVICE! We order Za’s all the time through Bitesquad. We love their wings but the last time we ordered them (4/3/21) and had them delivered, the wings were baby size. I’m talking quail size. One bite per wing. I called to ask how they can charge $11 ($13 thru Bitesquad) for 8 baby size wings. The manager apologized and promised me 2 free orders of wings. He told me the hostess would have a gift card for me anytime I wanted to come pick it up. So tonight (4/10/21) we decided to go to the restaurant and dine in. Right after we were seated, I asked the waiter to check with the hostess for our gift card because we wanted to order our 2 order of wings tonight. After 10 minutes of waiting, my husband even had to go to the bar and ask for a drink, the waitress came back to say they didn’t have a gift card for me but we could order the 2 order of wings. However she warned me that the wings were still very small. I said why would I want to order the wings when I wouldn’t be full from 8 baby wings and asked if they could just credit our bill $22 for 2 orders and we would order something else from the menu. She said unfortunately she couldn’t do that. I asked to speak to the manager. I still don’t have my drink order by now. The manager came over and said she would have to check with the other manager (that wasn’t working this particular night) to see if she could give me a gift card. Finally, our waitress comes over and hands me a $25 GC and our drinks. I’m thinking okay, things have to get better from here. We asked if we could have 2 more minutes to look over the menu. 10 minutes later, we wave our waitress down and told her we were ready to order. She was too busy congregating with her college friends who had been seated right next to us. She took our order, the food came out in a decent amount of time however they forgot to bring our breadsticks. That came 10 minutes later. Meanwhile, my husband had to go to the bar to order our 2nd round of drinks because our waitress was no where to be found. We even tried to wave down another waitress but she was too busy congregating with the college students seated next to us. Our waitress finally came to check on us and we told her we were good but needed our check and a to-go box. She came right back with our check but walked away. We put our credit card in the folder and waited another 10 minutes while she made shots for her college friends behind the bar. Then we had to wave her down to take our payment and asked her again for a to-go box. We will never dine-in at Za’s again. I hate this because the food is pretty darn good. Not even sure we will order to-go again from Za’s either. Very...
Read moreI love the food and atmosphere, but it seems like hours have come very malleable since reopening after covid restrictions have been lifted. There have been multiple times when I have called and the website or instagram says one thing about closing time and the person who answers the phone when I call to double check says another. This has happened a few time before the incidents I am about to mention, but I just had some happen simultaneously which prompted me to comment tonight. Last night I checked the website, they had August covid hours posted. Wednesday thru Saturday closing at 10 PM. I called to confirm last night around 8:30 and I was told closing at 9:30 and oh there is a really long wait. Which is fine, but have had this happen to me before here. that's the reason I called because its happened to me before. Fine, then tonight (at 8:15) I am looking through my food delivery apps to see what;s available. Za's is an option. My husband and I complete our pickup order at about 8:30 and it tells me the order is being prepared and will be ready at 9:20. about 15 minutes later my husband asks me what the status is since he is picking it up, and the order has been canceled. Worried it was a mistake on my end, I placed the order again around 8:50 (website August 2020 updated hours says it closes at 10:00). Then I get a call from the food ordering app that unfortunately the restaurant is closed. At this point it's 9 PM in columbia and we don;t have a lot of options for food left. I understand if there is an emergency and they had to close tonight, but it flooded all the times before this that it seemed like the staff was sort of dictating the time of operations/closing, regardless of what was posted online. and then to close but not communicate with the food ordering app like happened tonight really got me going. Anyway, I am really posting this to ensure that hopefully owners and management can get this together. I will delete this post in a hot second once I get confirmation that they have noted they've gotten the feedback. I hope they remember they have lost potential revenue from me multiple times in the past 4 months. I'm also not recommending them to anyone any time soon. which is a shame because I think they...
Read moreDinner at the restaurant was interesting... Small wait for party of 5 upon entering (even though the restaurant wasn’t busy at the time) but no big deal. Waitress was wonderful; very attentive to the table and good on recommendations, she gets 5 stars. Food and drinks came out quickly and the food was hot and pretty good. As I was eating my food, I bit down on something very hard! When I spit it out, it was a piece of HARD plastic!! I alerted the waitress and she immediately apologized, took the dish away, and offered to replace it.. everything a waitress should do. She even alerted the manager. When the waitress returned to the table, she said that the entree was comped on the bill. Ok fine. But this was a piece of PLASTIC!! And you told the manager whom by the way we haven’t seen yet. As time passes, frustration begins to develop because of the gravity of the situation and the fact that the manager hasn’t shown face yet. I’m 100% sure our waitress overheard my party in dismay about the no-show manager because soon after, she shows face, with the generic apology and explanation of what it “probably was”. And that was it. That was all. This restaurant proudly displays its ServeSafe certification (ServSafe certification is a food safety credential from the National Restaurant Association.. google it) So one would think something like plastic in your food would be taken a little more seriously. After all was said and done, I did receive a gift card but the waitress seemed more genuinely concerned than the actual manager. The live music made the atmosphere better but retraining definitely needs to be on the top on the to do list for managers on how to address problems that arise within the...
