I had my first job here as a cashier around early October of last year and I could never ask for a better entry position at a better place. I have never even been to any burger king establishment before then, since I barely go out, so I knew absolutely nothing about the menu or the work area, much less the work environment in general. But a girl was desperate for a job, so I gave it a try.
Went in for an interview, was hired on the spot, and began training two days afterward. I was so nervous, but training was a breeze, and I managed to catch on to most of the basics. I had opening shift for front counter, so my job was to bake the cookies, restock the mini refrigerators, and make sure the sauces and cups were lookin' good for the rest of the morning while taking orders.
I made many mistakes, I aint gonna deny that, but ALL of my coworkers went out of their way to help me learn from my mistakes. Marty was the sweetest thing and always gave me tips that made my work faster and more efficient. Mrs. Kay is the epitome of a PERFECT manager, and I think she deserves one heck of a raise. She always always always helped me out when needed and never made me feel inferior or dumb for messing up. She was funny and often went out of her way to please the customer even though the customer was wrong. I understand that's what managers are supposed to do, but I believe in giving credit where credit is due. This particular burger king is always busy for obvious reasons, and the way Mrs. Kay handles daily obstacles is next to flawless (Go Mrs. Kay!) Mrs. Pam was such a doozy to hang out with, and I learned a lot from her about our many regular customers, and how to be more confident in everything I do. I helped her out a bit sometimes in the eating area, which quickly became my favorite thing to do. These three, and the many others that I worked alongside with were what made working at burger king enjoyable.
I have so much more to say, but this is a review, not a novel lol. But from a former employee's perspective, especially one who went in completely clueless, if you're looking for a good entry job with coworkers that are patient and kind, THIS is the place to go. You just have to apply yourself and learn from your mistakes (like any regular job). If I hadn't had to leave in order to continue my education out of state, I would most likely still be working there right now, enjoying every second of it. A good work environment is essential for a fast food place to make it through the day, and that is the main reason why this particular burger king remains popular.
Thank you guys for making my first job such a wonderful experience. I learned a lot, not just about customer service and how not to burn cookies, but about becoming more open and confident in myself as well. If i could, i would rate this place a 1000000 out...
Read moreit's a Thursday early evening, about 6:30. there is a line of about 6 people and another 3 or 4 waiting for their order. Fine. the cashier mentioned that there was only one person 'on the board' so they couldn't ring us up, they had to go help with that. Still fine. The people in front of me were elderly and one had a walker. We all waited and waited while The cashier and another employee called out names, filled french fries, etc. All still fine. then the two employees began talking to another customer for a good two or three minutes. nobody came to ring us up and nobody was calling out any other orders, they were just dealing with that one customer. one of the elderly Women in front of me said hey is there a way I can get some help. And the employee said and I quote: "your food still gonna take forever so what's it matter if you have to wait to place your order." In a very smarmy irritated tone. it wasn't what she said so much as just the way she said it, like she was annoyed that anybody even talked to her. honestly she had such an attitude I have to say she was a b**. I didnt see a name tag but she had red and blue nail polish on alternating fingers. those people, they had been standing there much longer than me and if the employee was paying attention she would have seen the one with the walker was having a hard time. i work retail and these are tough times but that could've been handled quite differently. I will never go to this BK again, there are plenty more BK's around here with much better...
