Having recently moved to the area, I decided to try all of the local restaurants with an unbiased opinion, including Burt's. After the fact, I realized I should have researched first. I had heard many good things about this restaurant via word of mouth from coworkers but the experience my family and I had in that place was absolutely unbearable, embarassing, and downright horrible. I am happy to post this review showing my full name as I believe the public needs to know how my family and I were treated during our time there.
We arrived about 45 minutes prior to closing as we didn't realize they closed at 7:30 on a Friday night. Having never been there, we asked if it we could still be served. We weren't answered even though there were about 10 people standing around and 5 or so employees right next to us. So after we were initially ignored, we sat and waited.
A waitress came to our table about 10 minutes later to take our orders. I must stop here to comment on the appearance of the wait staff as I believe cleanliness should be of the most importance to a restaurant. All of the servers I saw were dressed in stained t-shirts (unsure if the stains were new or old) and blue jeans. Our particular waitress had VERY dirty fingernails and hair pulled into a very sloppy ponytail. This should have been our 2nd reason to leave.
Once we received our food, the steaks my parents ordered were decent - but nothing special. The steak and fried corn nuggets I ordered arrived so over done you could barely tell what they were. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she told me that's how they were supposed to come and just kept on going about her business.
All of these are things that we could live with. Everyone gets disappointed by a restaurant at some point in time-- BUT soon after we began eating our food (about 8-10 minutes) a different waitress started cleaning up for the night. She ran the vaccuum cleaner right next to our table, was speaking very loudly to another waitress across the room (across our table) and THEN proceeded to TURN OUT THE LIGHTS WHILE WE WERE STILL EATING. Now, I understand it was close to closing time, but no one ever communicated with us that we need to hurry up and get out! I told her that was very rude and asked her to turn them back on and her response was "that's the way we do things around here". This is completely unacceptable. My father, who was ignoring the whole situation, then said something about whatever was on the TV and the same waitress proceeded to MOCK HIM as she was walking into the kitchen. She mocked a man who had never spoken to her.
The worst part about the situation is that a woman (likely the owner or manager of the restaurant) heard what was going on and told my family that "no, that is not the way we do things around here". She then proceeded to take my name and telephone number as she was going to call and discuss the situation with me after the fact. She never called. We will never be back, and quite frankly I hope many others do the same.
You should never have to endure the rudeness and uncleanliness of a restaurant staff while you're trying to enjoy a meal. I hope this review helps others to determine they don't want to try this restaurant. You can drive across the street to Ruby Tuesday in the mall and get a WAY better experience and WAY BETTER food for less money.

Read moreIf the norm for this establishment was what I experienced today, I have no idea how they maintain a 4.7 star rating. To preface, I have been wanting to eat here for a while after hearing rave reviews from my husband and friends. I was anticipating a wonderful meal based off my prior experiences eating at butcher shop restraunts because they typically offer better quality cuts of meat. My husband and I came in to have a Valentine's Day lunch. We ordered a fried pickle appetizer, which was decent. Nothing spectacular, I probably wouldn't order it again. He ordered the NY Strip special with mashed potatoes and rice and gravy, and I ordered the ribeye lunch (rare, rare, rare!) with rice and gravy after establishing the potatoes were instant instead of homemade. Our dishes finally arrived after a prolonged but not intolerable wait. The first thing I noticed was my steak was swimming in a dark brown juice, which turned out to be Dale's, a marinade that I absolutely ABHOR. In my experience, a good cut of meat is lightly seasoned, so as to not overpower the taste of a quality cut of meat. There was no indicating how the steak was cooked based off sight but feel and texture told me is was overcooked, as was the rice. It was mush. I sent the steak back and asked for a rare, rare, rare steak sans marinade and green beans instead of rice. The steak came back again covered in marinade, and by the look of it, I could have purchased a better quality ribeye from Publix. The look of my 2nd ribeye was reminiscent of the regretful 2AM decisions I've made (after drinking entirely too much) to order a Waffle House or IHOP steak. Our waitress informed me that she was going to have them put my steak back on the grill to "cook off the marinade flavor"...I politely declined and she told me they'd give the 2nd steak to another table and start a totally new one sans marinade. I had heard enough and declined any new food completely, having lost my appetite. I was at least going to purchase some meat from the butcher side of the establishment, but after the second steak I was done altogether. I am thoroughly disappointed in my experience here and don't plan on returning...
Read moreMy GF & I went to Burt's as part of a group of 7 after one of our dinner party had just graduated from the local peace officer academy (police school) based on the Columbus State University campus. We were seated promptly which was amazing since a party of 12 walked in no less than 2 minutes ahead of our group. The server(s) that attended to our group was/were very efficient & attentive. We had our drinks in what seemed like seconds after we were seated. They promptly took our orders & explained items on the menu which many of us had questions about since no one in our group had ever dined at Burt's. The steaks that my GF & I had were amazing, amazing, amazing!!! We also had the corn nuggets we had were also delicious. I had the Mac & Cheese which was very good too!!! I will add one last item to my review, don't let how this building looks on the outside, or even what you think about the decor inside once your are seated, affect your thoughts about how good the food at Burt's is......because you will be in for a huge surprise!!!! All 7 members of our group ordered a different item from the menu & all of us were very, very pleased with our meals!!! And, again, the servers are great, and the service just amazing!!!! My GF & I will return!!! (NOTE: We used to live about 75 miles from Columbus, but now we live in Florida, but we return to Georgia frequently to visit friends & so we will return to...
