We went during the soft opening. Got seated right away. There were only 2 servers and almost all the tables were full so it took a little bit. But that’s ok because it’s a soft opening.
I’m not sure what was up with the heat, but it was cold and all guest there had their coats on.
We ordered the ma po tofu, braised pork trotter, and fish fillet in pickled soup. The presentation was nice. But their food was average. Still good. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of competition for these items and the food didn’t stand out.
Edit: I came back a second time after this place has been more established. It was during summer so heat was no issue. We got seated right away. Our food came without much of a wait. The service was great.
Taiwanese salt and pepper chicken: this was good and tasted just like its name. Chicken was good and I liked the coating.
Chongqing spicy popcorn chicken: we asked for it to be made without peanuts due to an allergy. However, one did get in there. We didn’t tell the server since I ate the evidence. But I guess be really careful if you’re severely allergic to peanuts (luckily the person I was with was not and I spotted the peanut in time). The chicken was good and fried nicely. The chicken itself isn’t that spicy if you don’t eat the actual peppercorns or chili. But altogether it was good.
Twice cooked pork: this is a dish I recommend. The sauce was good.
Summary: this is a good/solid Chinese restaurant. However, there are a decent number of these in the surrounding area and this one did...
Read moreI want to give an honest review of my take out experience tonight. Based on reviews I wanted to give this new restaurant a try. I ordered online and it was a 45 time for ready to pick up. I arrived and still had about 20 minutes. There was a line/ crowd of people as people walked in from behind me and stood in front of me so there is no clear designation for take out or dine in other than a sign that says wait to be seated and people huddled around it. The 3 staff members were completely overwhelmed by the volume of business in addition to having to assemble take out orders and bus tables. I waited patiently and it was a total of 1 hour and 10 minutes I waited for and entree General TSO Chicken 2 egg rolls and an order of crab Rangoon. She brought me my order I checked the order because I was pretty sure I saw her put white rice in my bag and it was, I ordered fried rice. She said we are out of fried rice sorry. I'm not sure why that wasn't communicated because I would have chosen something other than plain white rice. I literally live 1 light from this restaurant on bethel, when I got home with the food it was warm. I expected the egg rolls and crab Rangoon to be piping hot out of the oil and my entree to be steaming. The egg rolls were soggy and the interior made me feel like it wasn't cooked all the way through. Crab Rangoon were identical almost chewy. I have no idea why I waited so long for food that tasted like it was ready and sitting. I spent $30 and I am disappointed in my...
Read moreI have heard alot of good reviews for this place and was eager to go and try it out. The place was not very busy as it was a little after lunch. I got the taiwan chicken, spring rolls and the sizzling pan udon with pork. The staff was amazing and attentive. The food came out hot and fresh from the kitchen and looked amazing. The reason for deducting 2 stars was due to the food. I liked the seasoning for the taiwan chicken but it was a bit to bready and dry. Springs rolls were fine, my biggest issue was the sizzling pan udon with pork from other pictures I saw and on the menu this dish said it came with bean sprouts but ended up coming out with udon noodles, pork and alot of onions. The noodles and pork was really good and the plate was sizzling due to the name. But the onions were pretty much raw and over powered the whole dish tasting like you were eating very oniony noodles which was off putting. I did ask the staff about it and they said they were redoing some dishes to see what did and did not work as they are in their soft opening still. Staff was very kind and attentive. I will wait to try this place again but maybe after their...
