Last night [7-2-2021], the Upper Arlington High School Class of 1971 held the first of the three events of its 50-Year Class Reunion on the outdoor patio at Coaches Bar and Grill.
Our large group of 67-year-olds and 68-year-olds had nearly-exclusive access to the outdoor patio on a thankfully-not-too-hot July evening [though several slightly-older people, who had not been a part of our high school class, had been clustered in one of the corners of that patio].
The serving staff at Coaches had been friendly and efficient in spite of having to work in an extremely-crowded and constantly-changing environment. I ordered "Stadium Nachos"; that order was brought to my table within a few minutes.
I should probably mention here that I had not received a fork with my "Stadium Nachos." Thankfully, someone else at my table had been willing to navigate that extremely-crowded environment, find a fork [wrapped in a paper napkin], and bring that fork to our table within one minute.
Before I close, I want to talk about the wonderful way in which the steps to the slightly-raised area, three steps above the main floor level at Coaches, are illuminated.
Since I am a person with limited vision, I had greatly appreciated the way in which those steps had been illuminated [by using a large square lighting fixture with louvers on the facing edge of the step that would be clearly visible to most except to those who are completely blind].
Those steps had been far more visible than one would have expected given their location and the low level of ambient light in that section...
Read moreStopped in for dinner on a Friday with the wife and teenage son. Despite the growing reverie of those arriving to celebrate the end of the work week (which did add entertainment value I can say) the food came out hot and tastey. My burger was large, juicy and delicious as was my wife's. My son liked his Buffalo sliders but thought the fries were just okay while we really enjoyed the fries. Our 7 layer dip appetizer was really good but there was not nearly enough dip for the mountain of chips we received. Bringing out a gratis side of freshly home made salsa would have added to the experience since the appetizer was quite costly. The atmosphere was nice and very clean and our server (Lauren I believe) was attentive. We will be back, and maybe this time without the...
Read moreWell, I had been going to Coaches for a couple years.liked the place and the food. However about a month ago I had a few too many and tripped and fell in the parking lot.Well several people came to my aid and I thank those people. The next day I went into Coaches to see if I had left my glasses there. The bartender.. of Indian decent whose name I don't know treated me with great disrespect. He would not even look to see if my glasses were there. All he said was " I'm not serving you" unquote. I suppose a person has a few too many on one occasion in 2 or 3 years and you are suddenly a leper. So Coaches is a fair weather friend. You are in the liquor drinking business,so when someone has a few too many...get off your high horse and don't treat your...
