Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers — Restaurant in Columbus

We made the drive to try Freddy's (about 30 minutes) just to try something new. It is a blend of Culver's and Steak and Shake, but with a MUCH more limited menu.The place was hopping (since it is fairly new) and service was still fast, though the staff could not exactly be called "friendly and outgoing". We both had their bacon and cheese double steak burger, which was tasty (no mustard please....eww).Expect it to be greasy (the meat is cooked on a griddle, not an open grill) but it was still good! The patty size is considerably larger than the tiny ones Steak and Shake uses (a welcome upgrade!). The fries were very thin, and a bit crisp, which I like. The onions are sliced very thick, which made them overpowering if you got a good mouthful, so I just took them off. Love the pickle slices though!! After we ate we tried their custard. I had a single scoop with butterscotch and brownie. I thought this meant brownie pieces, since it was listed with the other ingredients that come in pieces, but it was just a square of brownie at the bottom of the cup, with the blob of custard on top. The butterscotch was basically non-existent (half a teaspoon at best). Very disappointing. My husband got one of their concrete mixer things and was also disappointed by the scarcity of ingredients. It did, however, come with the fattest straw I have ever seen. No idea why. There is no way you could sip this thing as it is very thick. In summary, it was average. I liked the meat patty's more than Steak and Shakes, but the custard was a big disappointment. One...

If you like steak n shake, then you'll love this place. Everything is great, place way very clean and service was prompt. This was my first time ever at a Freddys and I was not disappointed.

We walked in and were greeted. It was the first time so I had to take a bit to look over the menu. Got the standard Freddys burger with fries and ordered an all beef dog just to get a feel for the standard options.

This dog looked crazy, it had an oddly shaped bun, but its new so i was going for it. Threw some ketchup mustard and relish on that dog and dug in. It was so delicious, it would make any vegan change their mind. It was thick and filling with great flavor.

Next up were some fries. I usually hate shoestring fries, but boy these reintroduced my faith to the potato lord. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and a unique seasoning mix added to the enjoyment. They also have a special sauce, which tastes like ranch and ketchup mixed together. Before i knew it, bam, those fries were gone.

Last thing in my basket was this burger. 2 thin crispy patties of beef with cheese and pickles, the most american thing ive ever devoured. Francis Scott Key would have wrote a 2nd national anthem about this burger.

At this point i had to get up and try some custard, but there was only one problem. Im not fat enough to enjoy it all, so many toppings to mix in, had to settle on one and take it to go.

The staff of the Columbus Freddy’s on Friday May 16th @6:30 was the coolest staff i have EVER met! I have never been into a Freddy’s but tonight i decided to go in. There ended up to be a tornado and I ended up huddling with people in the back. And all the males on staff (05/16/2025, @8:00) were awesome! Give those boys a free meal and a kudos. Those boys kept me entertained and had me laughing the whole time. Bunch of just good guys. And the manager ACTUALLY cares about her employees. She even asked to risk her life to go get everyone on her staff and me water. So definitely give her a raise! Never seen this good of managerial leadership and awesome staff that seemed to like each other’s company! I’m from Bloomington and I have never seen that before!

Before the storm she also sat down with me and showed me a bunch of information Freddy’s has on their “Super Reader Program” which (if your in the education field) Freddy’s will deliver a set of Super Reader Bookmarks to your school. Once a student reads 5 books and has a teacher/parent SIGN their bookmarks of the 5 books they receive a free single topping mini sundae. So highly recommend it for families during the summer and during the school year, keep the kids reading! And the manager really emphasized how much she cares about making Freddy’s in Columbus a good family friendly environment. And she definitely did! So stop by Freddy’s...
