Wanted the dust to settle on the opening of this new BBQ Restaurant before I checked it out. Today was the day, got seated and was greeted by Max my waiter. Super friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Decided to order the brisket and pulled pork for meats. The brisket had a great bark and smoke ring to it. It felt dry on the outside but surprise, when you pulled it apart, it was super moist. The pulled pork was very moist and tasty. Good Stuff. On to the sides. I ordered a bunch. First the potato salad, it is a very light mayonnaise based salad, made with redskin potatoes that were cooked to almost tender which is totally different from everyone else's. Had just almost a crunch with them, add some chopped scallions on top and it is a very refreshing dish. The mac and cheese was made with large spiral noodles and a great deal of creamy cheese. Delicious!! Then there was the Corn Spoon Bread, super moist with tons of flavor and a slight sweetness to it, add the slight crunchiness of the corn, Yummy!!!!! The Burnt Ends Baked Beans were made with a firm sauce that went well the diced red peppers, pepper and the Burnt Ends. And lastly the Collard Green's, they were well cooked, mixing some tomatoes, onion, greens and pork. No heavy vinegar taste here. Nice and smooth. Service was excellent. Also had the opportunity to talk with Jessica Harkrider, one of the owner's. Her husband Brad is in charge of the Food Operation. He has the credentials also. Graduate of CSCC, worked at the Club at Tartan Fields and Executive Chef at the J.Liu Restaurants. He is using oak, cherry, and hickory to smoke his meats. Amazing being done by the couple and their staff. Check them out!!!!!!!

We decided to give this new restaurant a try just 3 days after opening. It was evident that the staff was still trying to get their feet from under them. When we came, we were told to go to a table that had actually been reserved. After a few minutes of confusion, we were finally seated at the patio. The waitress was very personable but she was clearly struggling with the volume of customers that night. Everything took really long and they were out of ribs by the time we got to order. When we finally got our food, I could hear the waitstaff explaining to new arrivals that they were out of a lot of menu items. They were pretty unprepared for that night. However, as someone who've had plenty of experience dining at newly opened restaurants, I expected difficulties. So, this review is going to be all about the food. And, my god, the food! The food was incredible. I ordered up the pulled pork and smoked chicken, with collard greens and burnt ends baked beans as sides. I asked for the Texas bbq sauce and Carolina mustard sauce to pair with the meats. The meats were impressively smoked, and the sauces were great. If I have to nitpick on anything, it's that I wish they chose another seasoning for the pork rinds. I would've preferred a more vinegary and spicy seasoning instead of using a dry rub they use for their meats. But, that was a small portion of our dinner. The main event was exceptional, and i can't wait to go back.

Went here with a couple friends today. I am always hesitant when it comes to getting BBQ. I lived in Texas for a few years, and nothing quite compares to the best pits down South. So I'm always comparing all BBQ to Texas BBQ. So with that said, I was happily not disappointed today with Hank's. But I was not blown away either. I split three apps with my friends; honey hot chicken wings, fried pickles, and chips and cheese dip. The honey hot wings were good, but they only came as boneless. Wish I could have had a traditional wing option. The fried pickles were really good. And the chips and dip was tasty, but I probably wouldn't order them again. For my meal I ordered brisket tacos and fries. The brisket tacos were solid. The dip provided for them was tasty, but I ended up just putting bbq sauce on them. The BBQ sauces are good, but there wasn't a spicy enough one for me. One thing I loved about getting bbq in Texas is there is always a BBQ option with legitimate heat. That was lacking here. But they had a good sweet BBQ, so it was not the end of the world. Lasty, I got the bread pudding for dessert. It was simply superb. Gotta get the bread pudding when you go. It is worth stopping in by itself. All in all, I wouldn't say it is as good as the better BBQ places in Texas I frequented. But for Ohio, this place is as good as it gets.

This was my first visit, and unfortunately it wasn’t great (despite the ratings and reputation). The front of house staff really let down the good food and nice food runners / kitchen staff. They appeared to be overwhelmed, but there was no courtesy to guests waiting and no acknowledgement of our party’s existence for an hour (that’s no exaggeration). We were a party of seven (five of us eating) and I don’t think anyone wanted to help us. Parties of two who entered after us were being served (though they also waited 30+ minutes). I have no problem with someone telling us they can’t seat us without a wait - or at all, rather than sit there for that long without a menu or water. The root issue, as I saw it, is that the place is frequented by regulars - and if you’re not a regular, you are on the b-list - and will wait. I can recommend the food for take out or delivery, if you’re pressed for BBQ. The brisket and sauces were very good. The brisket falls apart when you pick it up and melts in your mouth - good stuff. They tend to over do it with dishes that should be classic and let the food speak for itself (fried green tomatoes, for example), but it was good. Just don’t bother eating there… take the food to a better bar where all are treated the same.

Well first it's really hard to find true barbecue in central Ohio especially if you've been to Memphis Texas St Louis and you've had all the great barbecue in the United States in North Carolina. Hanks is good and it might be as good as you're going to get in central Ohio their briskets were juicy and tender and it smells like a barbecue spot I've always said I don't go into barbecue spots if I can't smell it down the street now they said the loaded corn bread was supposed to be really dynamite in my opinion it was just okay it didn't have enough corn taste to it to really make me stop and say like this is great but it's just okay please remember I'm eating it all the best barbecue locations in the United States so for someone who might not have they might really like it however the brisket was good I will be going back to try more but they're brisket sandwich and brisket tacos or really tasty service was just okay we sat outside and we had to wait some time before someone came and served as even after we told him we're going to be sitting outside but I'm still going to try him again. The pitmaster cocktail is worthy of a try

Great atmosphere and great service. Food was good, well prepared and prompt. I am a little hard on bbq placed because it is fairly easy to do a good bbq, but super hard to do a great one. The meats were cooked well, but didn’t carry the smoke as much as I prefer especially for the sausage. The seasoning was different than most having almost an allspice back hint to it. Definitely good bbq. The sides are where bbq places make or break. Maybe I choose poorly but three sides we had were lackluster. The collards were right, while the mac and cheese needed seasoning and the green beans were a no go. In all fairness I have a major prejudice against blue lake style green beans. But even then if prepared properly they will pass. The common preparation for them is not what I prefer. Beans should be slow cooked with bacon and seasoning not flashed fried in a pan, especially at a bbq place. The fried green tomatoes were done well with an interesting topping and beautifully presented. The star for me of the entire meal was the loaded corn griddle cakes. By themselves a five star and my recommendation.
