I returned today and the pizza came out hot. My pickup order was ready about five minutes after the pickup time (which is completely acceptable to me) even though they were pretty busy. I'll chalk the previous experience as a fluke. I've bumped the rating up to five stars and this is now my favorite gluten free pizza I've had.
Original review:
Great food, not the best experience
I ordered the Monaco pizza gluten free and a gluten free smore brownie. I arrived five minutes before my scheduled pickup time. Was greeted promptly. After waiting for a few minutes they told me it would be out shortly and they were just waiting on the brownie. I ended up getting my food about fifteen minutes after my pickup time.
It was pretty obvious that the pizza was sitting on a counter the whole time too because it wasn't hot and was just slightly above room temperature. It tasted great though. Bursting with flavors on all ends - salty, sweet, spicy. It was also not a thin, cracker type crust that Columbus is unfortunately known for. I don't know the official moniker, but it's somewhere between a New York style and a thinner Sicilian. I was worried when I ordered that it was just a personal pizza but was about the size of a traditional medium, so I feel the price is slightly high, but not close to a premium price.
The brownie on the other hand seems slightly small in comparison to other desserts in the price range. It is absolutely delicious though and is now my favorite gluten free dessert I've ever had. It would be a no-brainer recommendation for anyone if it was $6. It should be noted that I believe it is traditionally not gluten free and there is no upcharge for them preparing it gluten free. I'll definitely be back.
As of right now I think Pizza House edges it out for my favorite gluten free pizza, but that will probably flip when I return if I get a warm/hot pizza.
I should also note that the servers were friendly and attentive.
I will update this review if I was glutened. (Edit: No...
Read moreThe atmosphere is wretched and cramped. Do you have fond memories of eating in your school cafeteria next to people you didn't know? This could work for you. I'm not talking like a table over from someone. I'm talking about literally only divided by the mercy your jacket and theirs can offer. You'll bump elbows with strangers on occasion, and the possibility of having a conversation with the person or people you came with is a matter of your willingness to yell over the cacophony of other people yelling next to you, or the obnoxiously loud music from a mercifully bygone age.
If you ask to be seated somewhere where you're less likely to step on a stranger's foot, or have a conversation specifically with whoever accompanied you, you'll have new neighbors soon anyway.
This has been my experience with four different visits to both locations that I am aware of. It's... Miserable.
The food is mediocre in the mouth and a dent in the wallet for what it is. If you go to this location, avoid the Italian sub unless you really want to memorialize the Exxon Valdez spill, as it's one of the greasiest things I have ever put in my mouth. Their meatball sub is... Well, it's there. Nothing spectacular, and not bad enough to complain about. If you're being dragged here against your will, it'll be okay. The pizzas are... Fine? Too much kale (or some manner of leaf) on the margarita pizza. It requires excavation, but the pizza hiding under the lawn waste is actually not bad?
Staff seemed like good people, but I get the impression that they were as happy to be there as I was. Treat them well, it seems like they need...
Read moreI had heard such great things about Harvest, but unfortunately I was seriously let down. The beer and wine list were okay, the cocktail I had sounded really good on the menu but ended up just tasting mostly like cheap gin, the pizza was fine (not bad, but sparse on the gourmet toppings and thin crust that was not crispy). But the service was the worst part. Our server was as attentive as can be expected on a busy Friday night. But the manager or floor captain, whoever seemed to be in charge of the servers, was quite rude at the end of the evening. We paid our check but still had more than half full drinks. About 10 minutes later when my empty glass had barely hit the table the manager comes to our table and informs us, “You guys have been here quite a while and I don’t think you realize that there is a long wait for your table, so if you could wrap it up soon that’d be great.” Mind you we waited almost an hour for our table and had been less than 90 minutes from being seated to finishing our last round and had spent over $100 in that 90 minutes. I was floored. I have dined out in many of Columbus’ finest and most popular restaurants and never been asked to leave so that someone else could have my table. I will not return. Why would I when I can go to Dewey’s and have better pizza, cheaper cocktails, and can linger as long as I like over my last drink without being rudely pushed out of a table I waited...
