So we drove to Columbus for the Twenty One Pilots hometown shows....so of course we had to hit Lavash. Full disclosure- I am middle eastern so my standards are very high having grown up on authentic ME food. Well, let me just say, confidentially, now don't give me up but.....THIS FOOD WAS BETTER THAN MOMS! The hummus was the perfect consistency with just the right amount of tahini/ chick pea ratio. Some places, one overpowers the other but not here. And the pita bread....hot, soft, pocket perfect....was amazed to find out they bake it fresh! Toufayan should take lessons on how to make the perfect pita! It was pure heaven dipping that into that hummus. And the mujetdara (mojadara).... I grew up having this with bulgur and Lavash uses rice. It was delish! Seasoned nicely and not oily. I hadn't had this in years and it was nice to have it again. Main course- the hubby had gyros on pita- meat was plentiful, flavorful and tender with just the right amount of lettuce and tomatoes along with just the perfect amount of tzatziki sauce so as not to drip all over the place. The kid had the falafel sandwich on pita. In the NYC area we head to Mamoun's for falafel as it is our gold standard here. Well, we have a NATIONAL standard now as Lavash's falafel was incredible. Moist, again with the right ratio of lettuce, tomato and tahini- Mamoun's is now in second place. I had the chicken kabob sandwich on Lavash bread. Chicken was perfectly cooked and there was a decent amount to fill you up just right. And the perfect amount of sauce on top so as to provide flavor and not drip all over the place. The food was sooooo good we ate there twice! And the prices are reasonable and the employees were so nice. The owner even came out to check on us to make sure everything was just right. To boot, the amount of goodwill they provide to the community is admirable! I appreciate how hospitable they were to us clikkies flocking to their establishment in the span of 4 to 5 days, taking pictures of EVERYTHING .... they just smiled and let us have our moment after TOP gave them theirs. Now we just have to sit in silence (TOP reference LOL) until Twenty One Pilots come back to play in Columbus so we have an excuse to drive 10 hours to have our Lavash! Or they can open one up in NYC please!!! If you are in the area- make sure you drop by, you will NOT be disappointed!

Not a fan of either the non-authentic food or the ridiculous over-inflated prices. A $12 Greek salad with “house dressing” that appeared to be Wishbone salad dressing brand that I can buy at the grocery store, made up of mostly lettuce, 3 slices of cucumber, 3 grape tomatoes, some red onion, and 3 olives still with pits, oh and a bakers teaspoon of feta. Ridiculously overpriced and not even authentic or any good! Let’s move on to the $11 chicken kabob wrap with a tahini sauce. Um still hungry and it didn’t taste Mediterranean, or Lebanese, or Greek! Totally not worth it. Daughter ordered the kabob entree for $20. Most of her plate was made of yellow rice from a box, and not even the authentic kind that had slivered almonds in it. The kabob didn’t have any taste that would make you think this is Mediterranean cuisine. Pita was warm when it arrived and within a few seconds hard and chewy…microwaved maybe? Salad that accompanied it was sparse. My Daughter said, “ well now you know.” Yep $45 for 2 people and we’re still hungry… never again!!! Soo many better that are FAR more authentic Mediterranean than this one. Edit to respond to the restaurant’s claim that their high prices = quality ingredients: that response is laughable when the whole point of this post was that they use grocery store wishbone dressing for their “house dressing” with a supposed “Greek salad” which is mostly lettuce and practically no feta for $12. Secondly they use something that tastes like uncle ben’s rice for their $20 entree which is mostly rice. Far better food and quantity for the same price at other restaurants.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this Mediterranean restaurant and I must say, it was an absolute delight! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that instantly transported me to the Mediterranean region. I decided to try their kefta sandwich, and boy, was I in for a treat! The kefta was perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection, resulting in juicy and flavorful meat that was a true delight to my taste buds. The sandwich was served on fresh, fluffy bread, accompanied by a generous amount of crisp lettuce, tomatoes, and a tantalizing sauce that elevated the flavors to another level. It was simply mouthwatering! As a side, I ordered their French fries, and they were the ideal complement to the kefta sandwich. The fries were golden and crispy on the outside, while being soft and tender on the inside. Each bite was like a burst of pure potato goodness! I couldn't resist dipping them in the accompanying sauces provided, adding an extra layer of flavor and enjoyment. To complete my order I also tried ice tea with mint but it was unsweetened so didn’t really like it.

Food is tasty but the portions are kind of a joke for the price. $16 for a falafel plate made me miss the $8 ones at my bodega in Brooklyn Edit - after the restaurant responded that’s a cop out from them. It’s a nice spot but I wouldn’t call it a dining experience. You could have one less person working behind the counter where it looked like you had a dozen people and make falafels that are regular sized and enough so that I didn’t have to go buy more food after. The meal is listed as gluten free but comes with a pita, not gluten free. I asked if I could sub it for something else that was gluten free and got turned down or told I could buy fries for $6. People should be able to be full for $20 these days. Falafel shouldn’t be a premium gluten free item it’s naturally gluten free when made properly with chickpea flour. If you want an experience and bomb food go see my guy Carlos at the corner of Graham and Scholes in Williamsburg you could be crushed by the plate he serves you and it’s better than this spot that claims to be a level above. Downgrading to 3.

When you’re eating here, you’re living comfortably. The gyro was in a style I hadn’t seen in a while, very traditional and very good, looked real nice. I’m not sure how we had missed this spot before; this was our first time, and it was excellent. Service was incredible: my mom has a lot of dietary restrictions and they were very thorough, checking the ingredients to make sure she could have entrees and desserts etc. Lovely atmosphere, the patio feels very private with all the greenery and grapevines. Portion sizes are generous for the price. The owner was kind enough to give us some baklava as a treat for our first time, and when we found out it had something my mom can’t have in it, another employee brought her a dessert she could have, along with some extra pita! We were very well taken care of and we will definitely be stopping by again to try other things on the menu!

Cool, casual, basic Mediterranean spot, where you order at the counter. My husband frequents this place quite often and he is quite a fan. I think it is okay, nothing extraordinary. The hummus came with pita and salad. The salad was fresh and refreshing. The hummus was good however, the pita was not quite great- It wasn’t terrible either ( you can give it a benefit of doubt because I consider myself quite snob and picky when it comes to pita). The chicken. Shawarma platter came with rice. The yellow rice was flavorful and the chicken was dry and very basic. My husband ordered lamb shacks- which was okay too ( although the lambs were too smelly; I mean the usual nutty/ funky lamb smell). The portion was huge, I had to take stuff back in home and ate the left over in the next day lunch.
