J Lemon Pepper Fish & Chicken — Restaurant in Columbus

Let me just be honest: there is NO place like J Lemon Pepper! This place is new and located where the OLD Papa John's was on S.Hamilton Rd. [Columbus OH.].They have great food that no where else has. The meals are (IMO)- huge without skimping on quality, and they have some pretty sweet deals (i.e. one of the lunch specials is 5 pieces of fried chicken legs and thighs with a bunch of fries for only $5.00.)!Definitely a refreshing change from the over abundance of fast food chains in the area! They have different kinds of Fresh fried fish perfectly breaded & seasoned, and delicious lightly breaded shrimp! They have wings, chicken tenders, scallops, fried chicken gizzards (a side order for $4.99 is a white foam container overflowing with em!), chicken livers, clam strips, fried mushrooms, coleslaw, roasted corn on the cob, hushpuppies; shrimp, fish, and chicken sandwiches, and also philly cheese steak, and philly chicken cheese steak as well. There is a lot more too. Seriously, huge menu with something for everyone! They even have less common options for the meals they serve- like aside from combos, J Lemon Pepper also offers family and party meal sizes! Every order comes with containers of hot sauce and packets of ketchup, and depending on the order- other condiments like tartar sauce & cocktail sauce. We have been here several times and unfortunately will not be returning. Food is good, decent for the price, but tonight we ordered and got home (about 15 minute drive) and realized it was the wrong food.

We called immediately and asked for a refund and they refused to give it to us because we had the other food and it cost more than what we got. We do not eat fish and even if we did bring the food all the way back to the restaurant, they are legally required to throw it away.

Not to mention they have to remake the food for another person that actually ordered the food. It isn't much (11.99 for what we ordered) but it's the principle of the matter. Food was thrown in the trash and we will not be returning. We will not waste our gas from our vehicle returning to the restaurant when it was not our mistake to begin with. Our street is under construction so we have to park the other street over. That is more time and gas from me to return when it is not my mistake.

We highly recommend creating a better system for drive-thru orders to avoid this mistake in the future. I do enjoy the food here but the fact that we were not refunded for our food after a mistake that was not our fault is disheartening.

Oh my God I don’t know why everyone does the same thing to food but this place gets a big fat zero the chicken was way too hard and the fried mushrooms were not even cooked correctly I couldn’t bite into them without them falling apart well just the bread please correct these things and make them your own . My daughter gets dinner from here all the time maybe it was what I ordered but no matter what I get it should be cooked correctly . With each bit it just pulls the mushroom out of the bread why please make a different kind of recipe or something well don’t use canned mushrooms use fresh ones the chef in my kitchen said you are using things that make cooking them the wrong way which causes the mushroom to run out of the bread sorry I am being so honest but I eat a lot of fried food and this was not the way to go with trying something new for me I also like to see people and places improve where they need help at I hope this makes you better and not hurt your feelings sorry if I did I just think you would do better if you knew about areas that need to improve but the chicken is good after two hours of letting it sit now I can eat it and it tastes just like all the other corner store chicken but after sitting for a couple of hours it tastes better but grown from what I am saying don’t look at it as something bad thank you and I am sorry I hope this changes how you conduct...
