Little Dooey — Restaurant in Columbus

This place used to be great. But, the current crew doesnt have a clue what they're doing! Yesterday, I sat in there waiting for 45 minutes for a to-go order. I should've just asked for my money back and left at the half hour mark... Everything was cold, except one pork sandwich. Broccoli bites, fried okra, waffle fries, onion straws, burger, and fried shrimp, were all VERY cold. That's not how you expedite an order... I have a lot of kitchen experience. And, its not difficult to ensure that everything on an order goes out hot, if you're putting forth effort. When I called to let them know that everything was cold, they wanted me to bring it all back to get a refund... I felt that was absurd, considering they had already wasted nearly an hour of my day. The interior got an update last year. It helped as the place looks worn out. The exterior doesn't look promising. It is a local favorite, but out of town customers may be put off by the neglect. The tables and bathrooms are clean, just tired looking. Food is good. Portions are smaller than the Starkville Dooeys. It is counter ordering, not table service. Service is spotty. Columbus is not a good town for waitstaff, so the best go to Harvies. We eat here maybe 6 times a year. Far less than other restaurants. A newer simple building would improve the atmosphere and increase out of town customers. Bottom line: you will get plenty of food (don't expect leftovers), value is fair. The food is actually made there (not just heated up like the chain restaurants). I wish they'd rebuild on the same location. The 60+ year old building...

I placed a to go order in the restaurant for a fried chicken tender salad. When I got home to enjoy the salad, the chicken was cold. Some of the lettuce was wilted. I had ONE over ripe cherry tomato, ONE slice of a bell pepper that looked and felt like it had been sliced for a while in a refrigerator and the croutons were semi soft and stale. I thought fried chicken tenders were supposed to be hot. It looked like the salad was pulled out from a long stay in the refrigerator. I’ve tried calling this morning but no answer. Very disappointed. I’ve had a very good salad there before. Never again! This is not the first time I’ve had a complaint…even...
