I was planning my anniversary with my wife and Moretti's caught my eye. I looked at the reviews and kinda shied away because of some of the people saying that you were seated too close to people.
I looked at Moretti's in Arlington, and really didn't think their style of Italian fit my wife's tastes. She is a big Italian eater.
I went back to this Moretti's and called them. Set a reservation for 5. I am glad that I was there early. When we got there, other people were waiting in their car for the place to open. That's when you know the place is gonna be great.
We get in, and sit down. The table we had was wobbly. Whatever, thats not enough for me to take off a Star rating. I simply put my foot on the leg and it was fine.
DJ was our waitress. She was GREAT. She told us what the specials were, was great at recommending items, and it felt like she knew my wife's tastes. My wife got the salad with balsamic vinaigrette. She is a dork and asked for Ranch. DJ said "No, no sweetheart. You don't want Ranch on that as well. Hang on, I know what you need". She left and got the cheese grater. My wife's 1st and 2nd favorite food is cheese, so this was perfect. She warned me that the pepper in my meal was HOT, but me being a man, I wanted to prove her wrong and ate it. I made a mistake. It was hot and I regretted it. It was really good, however. They also grilled the pepper so it had a great taste.
I had the Italian plate and it was great. My wife had the cheese manicotti, and it was great as well. I wasn't going to write a review until I just ate the leftovers. It was just as great as it was last night!
Just to put people's minds at ease:
Show up when they open, or close to it. Get a good spot to sit. We sat at a 2 person table near a wall and it was perfect for us.
The seating really was not that bad. There is plenty of space for the waitresses to walk, so there is plenty of space between other diners.
The lighting was perfect. Very dim. But not too dim. You could still see your food, your plates, etc. But it was not bright like other restaurants.
I cannot say that I am glad that I chose Dublin Moretti's over Arlington Moretti's (since I have not eaten at Arlington), but I can say that I am glad that I did choose at least one of them. We had a great meal, and a great waitress. We gave her a 30% tip - first time I ever felt like a waitress went above and beyond the call to make sure we were happy.
We will definitely return here. Hopefully soon.
p.s. - The bread and butter WAS AMAZING. Italian bread and their mix of butter/margarine. We asked for extra butter to take home with the bread that we did not finish! This was probably our favorite part...
Read moreThis was our first time dining at Moretti’s’s of Dublin. We both grew up on the East Coast(Philadelphia, and North Carolina) and have very high expectations of our Italian food and restaurant service. That being said, our server was Brooke. She gave us insight as to what to expect from the dishes we ordered. Her descriptions were spot on. I got the veal-filled meat ravioli, with Italian wedding soup. I expected tiny meatballs and not the excellent 1” diameter veal meatballs in my soup. The daily, in-house made Italian bread was light and fluffy, with a slightly chewy crust. Evan the garlic butter was above our expectations. My wife got the Italian sampler with chicken, fennel sausage (with a kick), cheese ravioli and spaghetti with meat sauce(substitution). Her salad had a sublime balsamic vinaigrette on dark romaine with Gorgonzola added. Possibly one of the two best salad dressings which has crossed our lips. My veal filled ravioli, which are made in house, were perfectly al-dente(slightly chewy, but not starchy), with ground veal meat sauce. My wife’s chicken was melt-in-the mouth tender, and the house made pork sausages were excellent. For dessert we ordered the house-made cannoli which we split, and pumpkin cheesecake(to go). The cannoli literally had large chunks of chocolate in the cannoli ricotta filler. The next evening we had leftovers which were as good or better than the night before(the portions are large), as well as splitting the pumpkin cheesecake which was the best cheesecake we have ever eaten. We made reservations for dinner, which I highly recommend for such a popular restaurant. The prices were reasonable for the portions, and we definitely plan on returning again(we live 45 minutes North of Columbus, and continually seek out only the Best of the Best dining wherever we travel within the US or abroad). Put this place high on your list of gotta-try restaurants, and make it a regular...
Read moreOk. I am full of rage as I am typing this review. Just took a trip here with my family. To say that i’m upset, offended, and wildly confused how this place is still operating is an understatement. I don’t know how much theyre paying people to leave 5 star reviews, but TRUST me when I say they’re not real. Not only did the waiter roll her eyes after I warned her about my seafood allergy, but after taking her order, she LAUGHED at my (79 year old) mother who was struggling to form her sentence!! (she has a stutter). Obviously this whole Waiter experience was very off-putting, so I asked for the Manager (who couldnt care less about the situation). This left us all feeling (obviously) very gross , so naturally, we wanted to leave. Of course, with our luck, we had already ordered our meals, so leaving this hellhole wasn’t an option. After waiting what felt like a year for our food, the most disturbing excuses of uncooked pasta dishes came out. Based on the reviews and photos I had seen online, I was expecting a delicious, home cooked (or cooked AT ALL) Chicken Parm- not something that makes Chef Boyardee look gourmet. After forcing ourselves to consume the raw, cold, hard food, me and my Family (of course) were blessed with food poisoning and spent the whole weekend sitting by the toilet (Im not suprised). If you take one thing away from this review, let it be this: DO NOT listen to these other reviews saying that the food is even edible. Spoiler alert: ITS NOT!! I don’t know where they are getting these fake images or reviews from, but this restaurant is the definition of a catfish. But hey- it could just my opinion- I could be overreacting- so if you’re into horrible service, food poisoning, and clickbait, you’re sure to LOVE Morettis! Enjoy your meals! (And make sure to buy lots of toilet...
