The direction in coming into this establishment is not a "good flow"... I didn't see anyone at EITHER cash register so as I went to take my mother to the restroom I came back up and asked where do I place my order order as there still wasn't anyone present at any register. I went to the front with one of the ladies. I asked her about her suggestions and I order d a sandwich based on it with a fruit cup for my mother. I ordered a veggie pizza with no artichokes, no olives, no goat cheese and no basil garnish with a large bottle of Acqua Panna spring water. Whwn was all said and done we BOTH went through the order THREE times but there were STILL a few discrepancies. I was never offered a bottle opened for a NONscrew top so as the lady looked at me struggling thinking why would they give nonscrew top without offering to open it? I walked up and a male came to me and asked me did I need help? The same lady who took my order then came by me and asked me did I need help and I told her this was not a screw off top and sarcastically said that was I supposed to open this with my teeth. She just walked away. The guy said sorry about that and opened it. Sat down and soon after the food was brought to us by the same girl and I noticed my mother was looking extra hard at the fruit cup. I asked her what was wrong and she didn't want it... I asked her was everything okay until I saw the hair on the fruit. Totally disgusted I took it up to he kitchen and told the same girl who seemed to dismiss that there was hair on the fruit and said would you like chips instead. I got my mother her chips (at least I know that we had a better chance of it being sanitary since it was in a bag). When I finally was about to eat my pizza that was clearly on the burnt side I noticed that there was an ingredient that I specifically asked NOT to have on my pizza that was still put on my pizza. Side note my mother said the turkey sandwich was not that bad. When I came in here there was one couple and one last sitting by herself. There is no reason why this place was not spotless, better service and customer care. Future reference if you want to have a successful business the following is crucial: good customer service, CLEANLINESS, attentiveness. I will not come back. Please check your food and proceed with caution.
UPDATE: I spoke with CURT(IS) and explained the whole situation. He was extremely receptive and apologetic. He also offered to reimburse me but I refused stating that maybe he could provide a free meal to someone else. Hopefully, he can get some of his staff retrained and...
Read moreHave been to a couple of Newke locations, and this Columbus store is pretty decent .. the people are primarily pretty nice or professional, at least ( possibly a couple visits were like a "1/5" cause of the customer service, usually that part is 4/5 or so ; and yes, the prices is a bit tough, not very affordable for most working families to eat there on a regular basis, and because of the food portion sizes matched with price point, that area gets like a 2/5 ; the food quality, primarily is standard or higher for a place like this, and the price, yet there are cross contamination concerns like many places ; have seen particularly salad station have foods that should get kept separate, wind up in unalike food, i e , cheese in artichokes, or cheese in lettuce, or bacon in the cranberries or olives, and that type of thing, and have attempted to correct them and let them know it were inappropriate to work in a manner where that happens, cause its avoidable, they listen occasionally or depending who it is ; and then the fruit, on occasion has had stuff in it; not sure yet it looked like pasta or noodle kind, that has occurred multiple instances, yet the food would get about a 3 1/2 , though the quality of the ingredients and food products they use are about a 4 or 4 1/2 (certain stuff 3 / 5 ) ; its a clean place, a friendly atmosphere , very airy and roomy , plenty of seating and room to walk around tables and chairs w/o having to ask others to scoot in or being asked to move up/scoot the chair so a person can walk through, and pretty chill/neutral place tone (although they could change or address the bathrooms/ and hand washing areas, specifically the sinks to a less reaction causing/ sensitivity agitating material & the mens room has a consistent unpleasant scent, that regular cleaning (disinfectant surfaces/ mopping) doesnt work on ; that could be worked on ; as well the training around cross contact practices & emphasis a bit more specially with ready to eat or non cooked foods like the salad preparation/items area Would say its a nice place to visit, and ok generally notwithstanding a little expensive , yet would say its a 3 1/2 to 4 in general, they do up to par from a personal opinion and they do different little promotions, its there in the plaza or...
Read moreThis was my first time eating at Newk's Eatery. By the way the menu looked and the variety of items to choose from, I just knew the food was going to be worth the price. Plus, it was pretty packed and if a place is packed, usually it's because their food is good. Well boy was I wrong. I ordered the HALF Sandwich Pick a Pair option with the sandwich being the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich & Macaroni and Cheese and a Sweet Tea. My total came to about $15.00. I chose my seat and not too long after I sat down, a sweet waiter brought me my food.
For starters, the Sweet Tea was awful. I hope they just put Unsweetened Tea in the Sweetened Tea container by accident because it had maybe 1 or 2 grains of sugar in it, if that. I looked down at my plate and had to force myself not to go back to the desk with that plate of food and ask her if she put me down for a kids snack or something because the half Sandwich was the size of a Krystal burger and I'm not really exaggerating. It was like a bite size sub sandwich. 2 maybe 3 inches long and that's pushing it. I didn't know it was possible for me to find macaroni and cheese that I absolutely could not eat because I love all macaroni and cheese...so I thought. So, basically I paid $15 for a sample size/bite size Buffalo Chicken sub look-a-like sandwich and the first mac-n-cheese I couldn't even force myself to eat. Of course I was starving that day, too!!
Maybe they have food there that is actually good based on the number of people in there or the menu & the pictures got them, too...and they were also quickly reminded that looks can be deceiving LoL but as for me, I will not be going back to find out if anything else on that deceiving menu tastes good. Not with those kind of prices for a meal that small it couldn't even...
