My girlfriend and i decided to dine here after a hike. During the time we were eating several different waiters' came to our table asking if we were ready for our bill. I thought it was odd at 1st but after the 3rd different waiter came by and said the same i figured something was up. So after we ate we exited the building only to be greeted and separated by two police officers (the two police officers had been waiting on us to exit for 30min this is why the waiters were rushing us) They told us the manager of Papa's Grill called them saying that my gf and i were in arguments inside the restaurant. The police could immediately tell that that statement was not true from our behaviors and opening the car door for her, etc. The police were professional and left just as quick as they came. Connecting the dots the owner of this restaurant is racist. My gf and i are a black/white couple. The owner didn't want us in there and called the police. Obviously we weren't arguing so the owner told the police to wait outside until we exited. I went in after the police told me the owner called and i asked my waiter if i could speak with the owner. The waiter told me the owner is not present and had to leave. Its so sad how people still...
Read moreVisited again on 12/22/17 - Staff, and atmosphere always great however this time the grease was dirty causing the food to come out "dark" or burnt looking. We ordered the fish and chicken strips. Both were sent back, the fish came back but wasn't near as good as normal. Jody came out and said he couldn't get the chicken any lighter - this is when it was pointed out the grease was dirty by one in my party. He agreed it may need changed.
The soup of the day was Taco soup - but it wasn't Taco soup. How to explain it was cheese dip soup. Too creamy and wasn't good at all. You can't hit a home run every time.
The tomato soup was awesome! I did get water in a glass today! I was happy about that. Thank you for continuing to strive to be a great place of food. I will be back.
Approx Feb 2017 visit - Great food, good selection. They're pricey. Lunch is as expensive as dinner. Don't ask for water in a glass, the waiter said it's illegal to serve water in a glass with a beer logo. Crazy... I messaged the state we shall see.
At the very beginning I asked what desserts they had, the waiter said strawberry cake and cookies and cream cake. As we were finishing eating the waiter brings us the check... didn't ask if we wanted the...
Read moreI found myself thru Columbus after some Southern Indiana travels. It is extremely close to the freeway and far better food than any drive thru for a very similar price. I had the almond chicken salad on a crossiant. I can't believe I didn't think to replace celery with almonds, it's amazing. My bf had the rueben and it was excellent as well. The first item on the menu was the tenderloin, in true Indiana fashion. I didn't see one when I was there but I feel like I'll be back this summer. Two more things, ya'll so friendly. Just thank you. I think I was greeted or smoked at by everyone in the building. Last, I am a professional home cleaner so I really loved waking out of the restroom and seeing a gentlemen scraping something off the floor, get the man a scraper. Another super useful tip, deep clean the stainless stall doors by spraying down with a concentrated soap spray like dawns and polish all the marks out. Then wash with soap and water, dry, and your oil will buff clear and shiny. If you do this every month or so, the doors will stay pretty clean. See ya'll next time! eta... they have local RedGold...
