ATTENTION DO NOT REED THIS IF YOU DONT WANT TO STOP GOING OR GO TO THIS PLACE. It is very disappointing when you go out to eat at a restaurant, having to pay a high amount nowadays and receive very poor quality service, much more so at a time that was supposed to be a nice celebration, which on this occasion was the birthday of my fiancée.
We had never had such bad service, to make a long story short we were 11 people, in this place I know that reservations are not made so I called the day before and I called again half an hour before informing how many we were going to be and before we all went so we could have a table when we arrived, the table for the 11 people was super small, then the waiter as soon as he showed up informed us that the bill could not be divided between more than 6 people, something that no restaurant does, everyone They can divide the bill without a problem, this was something that was not informed to me by call nor does it appear on the website, anyway, we did not want the bill divided between the 11 of us, we tried to find a solution and divide the bill into two parts, half of the table (5 people) one account, the other half (6 people) the other half, the innkeeper refused to give a solution, we came to the conclusion that he simply didn't want to do it out of laziness or because maybe he was drugged or drunk or at least that's what it seemed like… After several attempts we asked to speak with the manager when he arrived he gave us the solution and also changed our waiter, the second waitress was actually not much better than the other since for almost the rest of the dinner she did not take care of cleaning the table, we had to pick things up and put them on other tables around until I cleaned them.
My fiancee's birthday was ruined, and ultimately we would not return to this restaurant, only for pick up because they undeniably have phenomenal pizzas, but perhaps the worst service in Columbus. Many young carefree people, completely uninterested in providing good customer service or at least earning their salary, I wonder if they have any other income, it would be logical, it is also funny the fact that I see that no comment, whether good or bad, is answered by one It shows more of the carelessness that these people can have...
Read morePaulie Gee’s matches the vibe of chilling at your favorite cousin’s house party (all the waiting staff were wearing beanies, gosh darn). It feels relaxingly industrial with ceramic tiles lining the floors balanced with dim, yet warming lighting. The environment is lively, but not so loud that it’s difficult to hold a private conservation. I visited in January and sat by the door, and I must say there was a bit of a draft.
Paulie G. offers an exciting drink menu with some unique choices. The Kalimotxo and limoncello spritz were sipped on.
I also ordered some Neapolitan-style pizzas. I’m a vegetarian and was happy to see there were plenty of options. The dough was the star; the amazingly crispy yet chewy crust needed not a single topping (they were appreciated, however). The pizzas were ready quickly with beautifully charred air bubbles in their 12 inch form, which is about enough for one person and a snack the next day. I tried:
The Caio e Pepe Pie: inspired by the pasta dish; chilled burrata swaddled by the warm embrace of melty mozzarella and pecorino with plenty of black pepper. I became emotionally distraught when it was all gone. The Trustfall Pie: I closed my eyes, crossed my arms, and fell into the arms of a wonderful mushroom pie with red sauce that had a bit of a red pepper flake kick. None of the pizzas are overloaded with sauce and toppings and are well-balanced. There aren’t a lot of things that shivery Central Ohio has in common with picturesque Napoli, but Paulie Gee’s is bringing a slice of Italy and their unique pizza style to Columbus. Square Detroit-style pizzas are available, but it feels wrong to not get a thin, chewy Neapolitan-style pie from a place with a wood fire oven. I feel a degree of separation anxiety from the pizzas at Paulie’s, and I will definitely stop by when I’m in the Short...
Read morei have been following this place on instagram for YEARS. i had always wanted to try this place out, because there photos are just amazing they make the food look like it’s the best pizza in the world. me and my friend decided to go one night, after a night out and we came in and got added to waitlist (which we were completely fine with! Because like I mentioned we had been waiting for years to finally have the time to go try this pizza.) We were sitting and waiting and chatting, and than we get seated. We sit for a little but longer as we notice all the waiters go up to the tables surrounding us, and talk to them. But we’re still seated. After a couple minutes they come and ask us what we’d like to drink and we mention our drinks. Then we wait even longer for our food. We’re finish our drinks, while we’re waiting. We begin to order and we find out that they’re out of the pizza that was the ONLY reason we came to this place. And we found that information, not in the 20 minutes of waiting, and not in the other 30 minutes that we were seated AND waiting, but after 50 MINUTES we find out that its out. We’re were honestly so disappointed. It was honestly a very disappointing experience. I wish we could have been notified earlier of this, or even a sign on the door would have been fine. And I completely understand, being tired or anything because I also work in customer service but the waitor we had was just really rude and dry, she would hardly talk to us but we would see her talking away with other tables. And me and my friend are really social, so we love to chat it up especially with new people. It was just a really sucky experience, and the pizza was really small for all that wait, we ate it in under five minutes. I know other people love it but personally I do...
