Overnight stay Getaway. My first time celebrating PRIDE & staying at MOXY! Upon leaving my car with Valet walking towards a set of ornately decorated elevators I knew my stay at the Moxy was gonna be an adventure I couldn't wait to experience!
Stepping off the elevator on the 2nd floor walking straight to the bar to get checked in I felt like V.I.P as I was greeted by the attendant. Heading up to my room on 6th floor I immediately felt at home as soon as I opened the door and was met with an amazing fragrance. My room was clean and well appointed. There was a irridescent bag of themed snacks, treats and gifts for me to enjoy PRIDE WEEKEND! Nothing could have prepared me for the view from the terrace connected to my room. That was definitely the icing on the cake!
I had thee opportunity to snack at TownHall the restaurant that is connected on the first floor. Great food forsure. MANDRAKE the rooftop restaurant bar & club I felt like a celebrity arriving. The atmosphere and astetethic were unmatched. From my waitress who made sure I was enjoying my drinks to the Dj Killin it on the 1's & 2's. Met some good people having a good time! I definitely loved every minute being on the rooftop catching all the views and vibes!
Location Convience Fun & Modern Luxury is what you get when you stay at the Moxy Short North! Steps away from everything that the Art Distrtict has to offer. My fave restaurant is THE EAGLE! From my room to the hostess of the restaurant took me 5 mins or less that's how close it is! Its worth a try if you love Chicken and thier Mac 'n Cheese is to die for!
To be able to have fun indulge in adult beverages and be steps away from your room is priceless! I want to shout out ELJADA aka DW the bar/front desk attendant for making my last day an amazing one. She poured up them drinks like a pro, great conversation and made sure I was well taken care of. Thee best guest and customer service ever!
The MOXY is NOT your AVERAGE hotel! If YOU don't mind loud upbeat music in the distant background during your stay and a lively scene connected to the arts district thats juat step away. The Moxy is definitely for you. By far thee best hotel experience I have ever had. I will definitely be making the MOXY my home away from home whenever I travel from now on!
MOXY SHORT NORTH COLUMBUS OWES ME NOTHING! IT WAS EVERYTHING I COULD OF EVER HOPED...
Read moreSo I had to come back: The Staff has names and I want to be sure to acknowledge them personally. Sherita, Aisha, Reyder, Enis ,Rory, Theo, and Alex: The Valet was awesome as well.
Corporate do you see these names: They made this place ROCK!! Please do not forget about them when earnings soar. They helped to achieve your dreams in making this vision possible and did it with GRACE!!!
This was my first time staying here. I did not do my homework because I brought my three year old ( All ME). This place is really cool for a person visiting or someone who needs a break from home/ hideaway. I stayed in the Queen with a balcony. The room is perfect for one person. It was clean and comforting The view of downtown was cool. The staff in every section (valet, hotel, restaurant,) was amazing in helping me with my needs. You are close to many bars and other restaurants. Not far from the Ohio State campus.
I completed my first night and boy was it amazing. I can't say enough how the staff just goes over and beyond. No complaining, no attitude, just wanted to know how/ if they could help.
You need a card to access the elevator to the rooms. I loved it!! I felt safe that not just anyone could come into the hotel and freely roam the halls.
It was quiet outside of the music from the night life. But it's soo romantic and it wasn't too bad. It was off by 230 when bars close. But hey it's so much to do you may be enjoying the atmosphere yourself. This is a place a couple can stay just to get away. It's cool for people who just want to zhen.. OR PARENTS WHO JUST WANT TO RELAX!!! If your traveling for work I would recommend this place. Nice and cozy overall comfortable.
Townhall restaurant/bar is located inside on the 1st level. I did not eat there because it's organic but their staff was soo friendly and understanding I almost tried something ( not adventurous with food just me) but it looked amazing and the options were creative. I think if I didn't read organic I would have eaten. Shame on me because the people who were eating seemed to be enjoying the food.
The staff/ cleanliness/location/ rooms will definitely bring me back.
Oh they have and old school rotary phone!!! I haven't seen one since the 90's!!!
I forgot you also get a free drink token!!
I appreciate...
Read moreHave stayed in many hotels and love this property for it's awesome location, unique vibe and cute details. However, it may not be for some travelers who prefer a more traditional hotel experience:
Pro's:
Great location in the middle of downtown's Short North with awesome views Was just opened in Oct. 2019 and it shows, very clean and cool decor Not stuffy or cold, feels very cozy and has great common spaces like the reception/bar area, games (billiards, pinball), outdoor terrace, gym Free cocktail token for each guest at check-in (yes, please!) Spacious walk-in shower both overhead rainshower and handheld, good water pressure and heat Full-size hairdryers and large (refilled) bottles of shampoo & body wash, conditioner Free wifi plus business center and mtg. room downstairs Plenty of USB ports for charging tech Smart tv with apps like Netflix Lots of clever storage White-noise machines & blackout curtains In-room temperature control Hard floors (no nasty hotel carpeting) Friendly and knowledgable staff, anything we called for was sent up immediately Pet friendly!!! (Yes, they really do love doggies)
Cons (ie may be different from what you're used to):
No fridges or ice-buckets in the rooms (they do have ice machines in the hall) Bed is a platform (so no box spring) and has a heavy blanket instead of comforter Very few king-size room options, Queen is the standard here so don't expect to fit a family of 4 in a single room No closet; use the built-in storage spaces and wall hooks No in-room iron, use the ironing room No in-room dining, although the restaurant downstairs is under construction so maybe will be an option when they open?
PARKING TIP: the attached valet garage is not operated by the hotel; charges $30+ per night and can't be negotiated with the hotel. Use metered street parking instead which is free at night and can be paid via phone app during hours (8am-10pm, M-Sat)
ROOM TIP: Absolutely opt for a room with balcony if possible. The terraces are both spacious and have great views, and make the room feel so much bigger overall.
Bottom line – it's a beautiful property with lots of cool features and fun, but may not get high marks from families or travelers expecting more traditional...
