It has been a long time since I ordered from Don Chuchos, since I have found (on every occasion) the food at El Carrizo on Macon to be much more flavorful and tender. However, Don Chucho’s is closer, and I was feeling a little lazy, so I figured the convenience of Don Chucho’s proximity validated giving the restaurant another chance. I called to place my take out order, and was taken aback at the rude demeanor of the woman answering the phone. I will admit - I had modifications; one of which was more annoying than the usual ‘no onion’ request. My daughter is an extremely picky eater and, to get her to eat tacos - beef and all, she simply enjoys ‘putting them together’ herself. I asked the person receiving the takeout order if I could have two soft tacos with beef, cheese and sour cream only - with the ingredients separated in a box. She aggressively (and angrily, I might add) stated ‘NO M’AM. We will not modify any order, separating them. Separating them costs extra. If you want them separated there will be a fee for this.” I worked in the restaurant industry many years, and I get it. Modifications are an absolute nuisance, but the customer should never be on the receiving end of the aggravation of the customer service representative. I would have appreciated a simple ‘yes m’am, but there is a charge to separate the items’. Needless to say, I canceled my order (solely due to her poor attitude) and placed the exact same order at El Carrizo (Macon Road). Not only was there no extra ‘food separation’ charge, the pleasant gentleman taking the order thanked me for my business before we hung up. I will certainly not make the Don Chucho’s mistake again, as there is no doubt in my mind El Carrizo’s food will (as usual) be much more flavorful than...
Read moreI never thought that I’d find another Mexican restaurant home when I moved away from Texas. But for the last three years, the owners and servers at Don Chucho's have been the most welcoming and caring people that we now consider family. We’ve gone every week (maybe even multiple times a week) for the last three years. We’ve shared our anniversaries, school acceptances, and big announcements there. We’ve also gone there to have a great end to some hard days.
Yesterday, I took my Texas family there to celebrate my college graduation and Mrs. Ramos brought a beautiful cake to the table to congratulate me! I couldn’t help but to tear up, because we truly feel at home when we’re here. I can’t thank them enough for all of the happiness (and margs) they’ve...
Read moreWe just moved here and this was our first visit. The waiters made an excellent first impression with their friendliness and stellar service. We had a party of 5 and waited no more than 10 minutes for our food. It was literally drinks, chips, order, then BAM, our meals were sitting in front of us!! We all agreed we got our food faster than had we gone to a fast food restaurant. The food was delicious and the waiter kept our cups full. The place was clean and inviting. This has definitely become our new mexican restaurant of choice!! Update: 4 years later and we still LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Everyone is so friendly, food is always great, and just being there...
