Keyarra with Offline - We visited this restaurant on a random week day we started with the Fried Green Tomatoes that came 3 slices with pimento cheese and hot honey. I didn’t even want to finish eating them if it wasn’t for the pimento and the hot honey being so so good( I don’t even usually care for pimento but it was that good). The tomatoes weren’t cooked through enough for me, had absolutely no flavor. After that I was a little nervous to order anything else with that being the first impression, but I ordered the Country Fried Chicken served with Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, and peppercorn gravy. My husband ordered the Grilled Bone-In Porkchop served with Cheddar, pepper jack, bacon and andouille, mashed potatoes, roasted broccolini, and Carolina BBQ sauce. When I tell y’all that Country Fried Chicken was SO good! It was perfectly seasoned (don’t get if you don’t like pepper it’s very very peppery with the peppercorn gravy) and perfectly crispy. The Brussels sprouts were great they drop them in the deep fryer which gives them a great crispy texture, and fried flavor. The mashed potatoes had a balanced flavor and the gravy definitely magnified for a more intense flavor. My plate was very savory, fulfilling, and satisfying. My husband let me taste his dish as well the grilled porkchop was very very good loved the added cheeses and meats! The broccolini had a grilled taste as well to match the porkchop and was great. My husband even liked the flavor of the broccolini though he doesn’t like broccolini typically. We ordered the Derby Pie served with ice cream for dessert. The Derby Pie was like a mix of Pecan pie and chocolate chip cookies with big chocolate chip morsels. Never had anything like it was surprised at how good it was and the crust was perfectly flaky and buttery. Our server Mike, provided great service and was very down-to-Earth and personable. Overall we will absolutely be back I left full,...
Read moreWe keep meaning to go here and finally made the stop on Monday night. Suffice it to say that everything was EXCELLENT. The host was kind and welcoming, the server was consistently attentive, and the food was PHENOMENAL. We weren't that hungry so we split a salad, a side, and an entree. (We had a late lunch.) The salad was terrific: fresh, well balanced, and not small even split into two. The side of fried green tomatoes were outstanding; oftentimes these are overly breaded and seasoned, but the tower presented here had just the right breading and garnishes. Really fantastic. But the home run was the chicken plate: Holy Moly. It's not describable it's so good, let me just say that when we were finished I literally used my finger to get the last of the gravy off the plate. (Yes, it was finger licking good)
When we go out in Columbus and want a mid-range meal (that is, something between great hole-in-the-wall ethnic food and expensive Refectory fare), it is ALWAYS hit or miss. You can guarantee on a bill between $60 and $120 (depending if get drinks) and more than 50% of the time you walk out thinking "ho-hum". (In part, because the market is dominated by C Mitchell's midwest middle-class mediocrity.) It is not often that we find a standout and Subourbon is 100% that standout. As so close to our house, this will be our new go to-- it was...

We started with shared appetizers of Pork Belly Burnt Ends with bourbon glaze, pineapple salsa, charred jalapeño aioli and Pigs in a Blanket with andouille sausage wrapped in everything seasoned puff pastry, Gouda cheese, cajun mustard dip. Then our entrees for the three of us were Corn Chowder with onions, peppers, carrots, potatoes in a creamy broth, Chicken Fried Chicken, breaded chicken breast, green beans, mashed potatoes & peppercorn gravy and Blackened Redfish with crawfish etouffee, cheesy grits, charred asparagus. Everything was exceptional in every detail!
