We visited The GOAT with our family this weekend in New Albany. Our family are regulars there and took us for our first time. Our visit started out wonderful. Food was amazing. Beers were cold. However, at one point, my family member had an empty beer glass and asked for another beer. The server brought a new glass and dumped his “backwash drops” into his new beer. Mind you, multiple people had beer - different beers - and this could have been someone else’s. It was backwash. It was truly 3-5 drops. It was warm. Absolutely disgusting. Everyone at the table was in complete shock. My family member went to speak very calmly to management asking if this was something they were aware of. They were very defensive and started it’s a normal service industry practice called “Marrying the beer.” I have never seen or heard of such a practice & even consulted with other restaurant/bar owners. My family member asked the server very professionally if he did anything to offend him, if so, he was sorry. The manager spoke for the employee and stated “The employee felt he was attacking him and being aggressive for asking question.” The manager then asked “Have you ever been in the service industry, no? Then you don’t know you’re talking about.” My family member kindly sat back down in disbelief without any answer other than it was normal. We finished our drinks and wanted the check. However, no one ever came back to our table. My husband saw our server again and asked for our bill. He stated, “I’m not your server anymore.” And walked away. We waited another 10-15 minutes before a different server came up and asked us how to split our bill. We explained how and she left. Another 5-10 minutes later, one of the two managers present came back and asked us how to split our bills. We explained we just explained this to our second server. Our original server that knew exactly which food belong to which patron was standing beside our table and refused to assist. Eventually, the manager after talking down to us, brought us our split bills. We paid and left. Our table was calm, professional, quiet, thankful and appreciative the entire time. No one was out of line, disrespectful, aggressive or rude. This was absolutely baffling service, explanation, reaction, and behavior. As our first time, I will not be back to the New Albany GOAT. This was shameful service. Food was delicious. Unfortunately, service ruined what was a tremendous...
Read moreREVIEWED EDIT: After Mrs. Wagner reached out to me, I went back to The GOAT and have a new perspective. My waitress was extremely sweet and efficient. She really knew what she was doing. I ordered the "Mac Daddy" flatbread and really enjoyed it- and took my leftovers home! I order the salt and vinegar chips again as well, and again wasn't super impressed with them but didn't hate them. The flatbread was awesome though, I seriously recommend it. The best part is that even thought I spoke with Mrs. Wagner, the staff had no idea who I was or that I was coming at all, so I can be sure that they treated me with respect without worrying about the fact that I was reviewing them. After my experience here this afternoon I would recommend this place. Thank you so much for the opportunity to update my review!
This was the first time ever visiting The Goat because my boss gave me a gift card. I was really excited to try it because the place looks so cute and the menu sounded good. I started with the salt and vinegar chips with the chive dip. I was SO disappointed because I love salt and vinegar. The chips were extremely stale and very chewy, it was clear to me that they had been left out a long time. They also had no salt or vinegar flavor, so they were essentially chewy, plain chips. I did like the chive dip, but didn't expect that to be the star of the show. I also ordered the Barbacoa street taco which sounded really yummy but I was even more disappointed then they arrived. The shredded beef was super dry and tough and had no flavor, and the tortillas were so dry and brittle, they seemed stale too. They were also extremely spicy, but I think some people might like that so not necessarily a complaint, just a forewarning! My waitress was sweet but very awkward and our interactions were incredibly stiff. She never introduced herself to me and didn't stop to check on me so I had to flag her down a couple of times. She was great with requests and refills though, but I think sometimes waitstaff disregards people that are eating alone (like I was) because they know the tips will be smaller. To be fair I don't blame them, and I still tipped her 22%. Overall the experience was very lonely and saddening when I expected good food and energy from the staff; I would not...

The menu at The Goat is fantastic, offering a wide variety of options that pleased everyone in our group. The food was delicious, from the appetizers to the main courses. Each dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor, reflecting the high standards of the kitchen staff.
What stood out the most was the way the entire team at The Goat celebrated Teneea's accomplishment. They organized a little ceremony with a personalized message and even a celebratory dessert, which was a delightful surprise. This thoughtful gesture made Teneea feel incredibly appreciated and proud of her achievement.
In summary, The Goat in New Albany provided a perfect venue for celebrating Teneea’s graduation.
