My visit to Kunduz Kabab Restaurant on Willow Pass Road was a truly exceptional experience. The food was nothing short of amazing, offering authentic flavors that transported me. We began our meal with the chicken soup, which was a delightful and comforting start. It was rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. For the main course, we chose the qabeli pallow, which was simply superb. The rice was perfectly cooked, fragrant, and studded with tender pieces of lamb, sweet carrots, and raisins, creating a harmonious and unforgettable taste. We also enjoyed the chicken kabab, which was both healthy and incredibly delicious. The chicken was moist and expertly seasoned, grilled to perfection, and served alongside a generous portion of fluffy rice and a fresh, crisp salad. Beyond the delicious food, the restaurant's atmosphere was a major highlight. The back dining area, in particular, offers a truly unique and beautiful setting. The setup includes traditional Afghan rugs on the floor, surrounded by large pillows and toshak (mattresses) for seating, which made me feel as if I were in Kabul. It was an awesome setting to enjoy a wonderful meal. The overall service was excellent, though I would humbly suggest they consider bringing a glass of water to every table as a standard practice. This small addition would make the dining experience even more seamless. I highly recommend Kunduz Restaurant to anyone seeking authentic Afghan cuisine in a...
Read moreI’ve given Kandiz Kabob a few chances, but unfortunately, the experience has been consistently disappointing. The biggest issue is the inconsistency—they seem to pick and choose who gets better service or fresher food, which is frustrating and unfair to paying customers. On more than one occasion, I’ve been told they were out of shery yahk (ice cream), only to see it served to others minutes later. Whether it’s favoritism or poor communication, it leaves a bad taste.
Wait times are long, and even when it’s not crowded, orders take ages. If you’re not a “regular” or known by the staff, expect to wait even longer while others get served first. When the food finally arrives, it’s a gamble—sometimes fresh, other times old and clearly reheated.
The dining area is often dirty, with tables not cleaned between customers. It’s also loud and cramped, with not nearly enough seating for the number of people they try to accommodate.
There’s potential here—the menu has promise—but until they address the favoritism, cleanliness, and service consistency, I can’t recommend...
Read moreWhile we appreciated the opportunity to return to this restaurant, we encountered some challenges with the service during our recent visit. We drove from Central Valley to Concord for the second time having made a reservation and placed our orders in advance. Unfortunately despite calling two hours ahead of our arrival we experienced a wait of nearly an hour for our food. This was disappointing especially since we had a similar experience during our last visit a year ago. We had hoped that our verbal feedback from that occasion would lead to improvements but we were wrong. When we raised our concerns with the staff, they become defensive and started to argue with us. We believe that constructive dialogue could lead to positive outcomes. We encourage management to consider ways to streamline service and address these delays. Enhancing the customer experience would certainly make a significant impact and help foster a more positive atmosphere for everyone. We do not recommend this place...
