The food is good but they seemed a bit disorganized. The manager at the cash register seemed confused on how to use the system when we were placing our orders. I ordered an item on the menu after they had double-checked it was indeed available. After my friends' food came out and several minutes had passed we asked the staff about my item. They told us to wait, until many minutes later the same manager came to apologize saying that the item wasn't actually available but that luckily she also didn't ring it up. So I had to order a new item (and pay for it) and wait much longer (at that point the restaurant was more crowded and they didn't prioritize my order at all). Afterwards we saw a couple that arrived after us getting the item that was allegedly sold out; what really happened is that they did have it available when we arrived but since the manager failed to ring it up, it got sold to someone else. A bit annoying that the manager didn't own up her mistake and shifted the blame to the kitchen staff. Also, we were not very pleased with the lack of concern about the amount of time we had been waiting before I actually got any food (about 40 minutes) for a place that is supposed to be fast (no waiting service, order at counter), nor they tried to make it...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped in for a drink/snack and were blown away by the place. The ambience and decor were amazingly welcoming. The seating area is warm and bright.
Their beers are excellent! They had four on draft, an American ale, a Belgian wit, an unbelievable IPA, and then an Experimental beer that masterfully utilized sage. All of the beers were great, but the IPA is among the best beers I have ever tasted! Whatever their brewer is doing, he should keep doing it.
We got a mixed green salad with strawberries and pistachios that was wonderful. The greens and strawberries were as fresh as you could possibly imagine having come from owner/chef Ben Elliot's family farm. We also got to sample their flavorful deviled eggs and burrata (soft mozzarella and olive oil on grilled bread). Simple and refined at the same time. The food was delicious!
The service was great. We were well attended to and felt like we were regular customers who had been coming there for years. We got the opportunity to talk to owner/chef Ben Elliot and he was gracious and very friendly. Any question we had about the food and drink were always answered thoughtfully and thoroughly.
We can't rave about the place enough! Everyone...
Read moreThis was a lucky find while in the area for an appointment. Very busy at lunchtime, to the extent the staff had trouble keeping the tables cleaned as they were vacated. I think you are supposed to buss your own table (we did) though it’s not clear and if so, many visitors don’t realize that. We had to clear the junk off a table to take a seat. If that’s the expectation, a few signs would help alert visitors.
The food was fresh and excellent. Best burger I’ve had in a long long time. It was served rare vs. the medium rare I ordered, but I’d rather undercooked than overdone. My mates also liked their food very much. I enjoyed a pint of house brown ale, and it left me wishing I had the time to hang out and have another.
The ambiance is bright and trendy, with windows on two sides. Lots of tables and a bar to eat at. The staff were patient and friendly. Despite the lunchtime crush we didn’t have to wait very long for our food. Prices are on the high side, but probably par for the course these days for this level of quality.
This is the sort of one of a kind neighborhood joint I love to find when I’m in an unfamiliar area. It’s well worth...
