My employment used to be about five minutes from Schottzie’s and I ate there twice a week, just like clockwork, and occasionally three times a week. I’ve had well over 300 meals at Schottzie’s. once, I ordered their toasted ravioli, and it was slightly overcooked. That was the only meal I ever had that wasn’t 100% well prepared and delicious.
Usually, when I go to a restaurant, I’ll limit myself to the thing I had last time if it was really delicious. Schottzie’s Is the only place I’ve ever roamed through the menu. If I’ve had one thing on their menu, I’ve had 25 different dishes. That’s not hard to do, because they have way many more offerings than just 25. Their pizza is unbelievable, their pepper burger is served in heaven. And their toasted ravioli is as good as anything you can get on the Hill in St. Louis— and that’s saying something.
I’ve probably eaten there a dozen times since I’ve retired from that job. I’ve added another three to four dishes that I never tried before and, as usual everything was amazing. If they were located in High Ridge, where I live, I wouldn’t have any money left and I’d weigh 450 pounds.
To say I’d give Shozi’s my highest personal recommendation doesn’t even close to how I actually feel. Of all the restaurants I’ve eaten at over 70 years in St. Louis, this quaint little bar food restaurant is, hands-down,...
Read moreChicken Breast Strips were not actually breast strips. They were processed chicken in the shape of chicken tenderloins. I thought $11 was overpriced for the quality of the product.
Buffalo Chicken Salad was mediocre. The bacon crumbles were gross. They were cold, chewy and did not appear to be cooked thoroughly. They could easily take 30 seconds to heat them up to a warm, crispy texture and improve the quality of the salad immensely. Again, that processed chicken wasn't what I would expect for the price, but it was tolerable drenched in buffalo sauce. The homemade ranch was the best part of our meal.
My husband had a Philly cheese steak. He said the taste was ok. It was very small size for an $11 sandwich with no sides. Fries were almost $4 and a small amount.
We also had an order of toasted ravioli that were ok.
Our bill was $60 dollars, $70 with a tip. We felt it was overpriced for the quality of the food. The service was good.
We have heard the pizza is good so would possibly consider takeout if we're in the area. I'm hopeful the establishment reads their reviews and will consider suggestions to improve their overall quality of their dishes. With small changes their food could...

Ordered online. Their online ordering service thru Slice, which they don't own, put the wrong time on my order bc of a time zone issue (my confirmation email says 5:30pm, theirs says 6:30). So, I instead waited 30 min for the THREE PIZZAS I ordered and the manager on duty/bartender Chris apologized but offered nothing for the inconvenience, and instead suggested next time I call in my order. What's the point in offering online ordering if it doesn't work??? For the record, I didn't call in the order bc I was in work meetings back to back all day!
Horrible customer service.
Now to the pizza. I've sent the screenshot of what I ordered. I literally only ordered mediums bc it was how I could get a NY style pizza. Look at these. Can you guess which is thin and which is NY style? Nope we couldn't either. The taste is average. The pineapple pizza? Had onions in it but no pineapple...so was a cheese pizza I paid extra for the wrong topping. I would go to Fortel's or Imo's before I'd ever come back here for STL style. The taste was average. Nothing outstanding. Sauce is on the...
