I came here for the first time on day one of a two-week training course I was taking down the street. I had such a fantastic experience that I wound up coming here for lunch every single day afterwards for the duration of my training. Fast forward two months and I'm doing another two week training course. Came here for lunch after that two month absence, and the staff remembered me. That's the kind of place Tucker's is - incredibly friendly, phenomenal service from a really great team of people.
And ooh man, I haven't even mentioned the food, yet. I tried a new dish every day my first time around, and everything I had completely blew me away. Turkey Trotter sandwich? Savory, tangy, amazing. House salad with tuna salad on top? Fresh, filling, and just enough mayonnaise in the tuna salad to hold it together without it being gloppy, and the tuna itself was top-notch. Corn chowder? Sublime. I could go on and on, but seriously, it's all just out of this world, especially the Reuben.
I've had a lot of Reubens in my lifetime. Some good, some great, some best left unmentioned. But this one? It's the best I've ever had. Thick-cut swirled rye/pumpernickel bread grilled to crisped perfection, beautifully melted cheese, barrel-cured (not canned) sauerkraut, Russian dressing, and simply heavenly corned beef. And they're not shy with the meat, either. I've had dreams about that sandwich in the two months I was away, and that's what I had today - and it was every bit as good as I remembered. Totally worth the wait. Tucker's, you're my lunchtime heroes, and you can bet I'll be...
Read moreWe stopped in on a Monday morning after our trip to NH for the NASCAR race. We were greeted immediately and given a comfortable booth. The restaurant is clean and staffed by friendly folks. Our waitress gave a us a few minutes to read the menu and we were ready to order after those few minutes but I think she got a bit chatty with another couple adjacent to us. It was maybe a minute or two longer than we would have liked but nothing too bad. We just wanted to eat and get on with our travel home though. I got an egg sandwich with a side of house hash and my son got eggs with french toast and house potatoes. My egg sandwich was tasty but I did not care for the corned beef hash. I’m not sure what herb was present in their recipe but I think it may have been thyme, which I do not like. My son’s plate was good and he enjoyed his breakfast. I would say the food is average, the service is amazing, the coffee is ok, but served in a vat vs a cup, which is good for the waitstaff for a busy weekend as they don’t have to fill up your cup so frequently. Another thing I noticed was that they did not have normal salt on the table but some pink style salt and no ketchup bottles either. We asked for ketchup and they brought over a plastic ramekin with about two Tbls spoon worth. Its 2024 and they seem to be holding onto covid protocols, which I thoroughly despise. Overall, it was Okay. In my opinion it was overpriced for the taste and quantity of the food served. Service was great, but based on our experience with other breakfast diners, we won’t be returning. Read moreI really wanted to like this place - I really did - but I was met with multiple disappointments that I simply can't understand. Let me start by saying that our waitress was wonderful. She was nice and informative and got us everything we needed, even if we didn't know that we needed it. Other than that, there were many other snafus that made our dining experience sub-par. While we were waiting to be seated, the bench in the waiting area was broken, and I almost fell over backwards when I sat down. When we were finally seated, I asked if they had any non-pork breakfast meats, and our waitress politely said no, so if you are of the Jewish or Muslim faith, you will have very limited options here. After ordering, we waited almost 40 minutes to get our food; granted, it was busy, but we both ordered eggs. It does not take long to cook eggs, I make them almost everyday at home. There was another couple behind us that was seated 30 minutes after us and they got their food at the same time as us. My wife ordered a dish with a side of fruit, which included a hair from an unknown source. Finally, my dish, the Sedona, had great flavors, but they were not well distributed. Some bites were bursting with flavor while other bites were simply bland, unflavored eggs. Needless to say, we will not be back anytime soon. There are many other diners that will give you a better...
