If you've been wandering the culinary desert of North Houston, yearning for the authentic tastes of China, rejoice! You've stumbled upon an oasis of flavor at Lucky Dumpling, a place so good it should come with a warning: "May cause severe food cravings and uncontrollable smiles."
From the moment they opened their doors a year ago, I've been a loyal customer. I've brought friends, family, and even that one weird coworker who insists pineapple belongs on pizza (it doesn't). And through it all, Lucky Dumpling has never let me down.
Their dishes? Oh, let me tell you, they're the stuff of legends. The stir-fries here are like a symphony of Sichuan spice, each bite a perfectly orchestrated explosion of flavor. If you think you can handle the heat, their Sichuan-style boiled beef will make you question your life choicesāin the best possible way. And don't get me started on their Shandong noodles and dumplings! They're so fresh and fragrant, I half expect them to come with a passport stamp from China.
One of the great things about Lucky Dumpling is its unwavering commitment to authenticity. Many restaurants start strong but then, like a sitcom in its third season, things go downhill. Not here. Their consistency is as dependable as a grandma's recipe book. Over the past year, I've practically devoured the entire menu, and each dish has been a delightful revelation.
Imagine my surprise and delight to find such genuine Sichuan and Shandong flavors right here in North Houston. It's like finding a needle in a haystack, except the needle is a delicious dumpling, and the haystack is, well, Houston.
So, if you havenāt already, do yourself a favor and visit Lucky Dumpling. Whether you're a fan of spicy, savory, or just downright delicious food, this place has something that will make your taste buds sing. And trust me, youāll be joining a growing chorus of fans who know just how lucky we are to have this culinary gem in our midst.
Go now, and may your journey be filled with laughter, joy, and the occasional tearābecause good spice knows no...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is amazing! I'm so happy we decided to give it a try last week! The food was so good that we decided to order it again 2 nights later, for my husband's birthday. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. None of that pre-boiled chicken that other restaurants just toss in the same sauce with just different vegetables. Here everything is meticulously cooked as it should have been. I honestly don't even care if I had to wait an extra 30 minutes for my food (which was NOT the case I'm just saying) because I love the crispy made to order chicken. My favorite foods so far are the spicy chili oil dumplings, and the spicy mala chicken. Right after it the spicy dry pot chicken...oh and the scallion pancakes!
The customer service is just as good as the food! First of all they reply messages on Facebook very quickly. I wrote them a message asking about ingredients (my daughter has allergies) and wasn't expecting an immediate response. Within a few minutes they answered all of my questions, which allowed me to order their food that night. 2 nights later I wrote them back to let them know we loved their food and asking about ingredients in different items since we were ordering for my husband's birthday, and they of course replied immediately...but on top of that, when we received our order they had put an handwritten card wishing my husband happy birthday and telling us how they added some lucky noodles, which is tradition to eat for one's birthday! We were very impressed as it's so hard, nowadays, to find both great food AND customer service in the same establishment! We are going to be loyal customers of Lucky Dumpling and never go back to any of the other Chinese restaurants we've tried in the area (seriously no comparison at all, Lucky Dumpling is on a different level)
Please don't ever change, because what you're doing is what really sets the difference! Thank you so much again and I can't wait to order your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBrand new place, just opened a few days ago in place of the old Meaux Meaux's. Our party of three tried a large variety of items and our impressions ranged from awesome to not quite ready for prime time. The interior has been nicely upgraded. It's beautiful, professional, and very cohesive in design and execution. We loved the dining room as well as the renovated bar. Service started out great but when the room was half full we had trouble getting drinks refilled. Then our final order, General Tso's Chicken, took almost 40 minutes to come out from the kitchen. Excellent flavors were found in the Pork Soup Dumplings and the Shrimp Dumplings. The Hot & Sour soup is very good but lacking depth. The Braised Sliced Beef Hand Drawn Noodle Soup really is just a very mild broth, but with fantastic house-made noodles. The beef was very low quality but infused with flavor, chewy but delicious. Very good was the Stir-Fried Hand Drawn Noodles with Chicken. The noodles are again the star, the sauce mild but delicious, and the chicken velvety soft. Unfortunately the late-arrived General Tso's Chicken had fried chicken so dense that it was difficult to get a fork into, and tough to chew. We decided that, despite the hiccups, this is a high-quality place run by true professionals, from concept to execution, kitchen to front of house. We think/hope that they're just experiencing the inevitable start-up jitters and inconsistencies. We will return in a week or two and expect a lot of the quirks to...
