Stopped in today after my wife found this place. I am originally from NJ and as many well know, good NJ pizza is not easy to find here in GA. I have been in GA since 2007 and nothing has come close UNTIL NOW.
So a couple things here.
Now to the Pizza. in a nutshell: I could do nothing more than give numerous fist pumps and here is why..
I ordered a large pie with pepperoni, mushrooms and onions.
Once I opened the box I knew instantly that I had struck Jersey Gold. The look of this pizza had me reminiscing of my days in NJ when you couldn’t wait to get that amazing slice into your mouth. When I picked up that first slice and it held its form, I knew I was about to be in for a treat. The dough and crust when folded together was something that I haven’t seen in many years. It was breathtaking.
After taking that first bite, it was like I was transported back in time to NJ, to the days where you looked forward to pizza nights with your family or friends.
On top of that my wife, who is from Tennessee, was blown away by the smell, feel, look and taste of this pie. Something I have been telling her about for many years.
While I only can give 5 stars here for this business, I am absolutely going to give 10 stars to the pizza.
Finally the search is over for a TRUE NJ pizza in all aspects which now leaves me time to search out the elusive Pork Roll Egg and Cheese on a Kaiser Roll as...
Read moreHands down some of the best NY style pizza in the area. I know they boast Jersey Boardwalk-style pizza, but this is effectively NY Pizza. Boardwalk style pizza has a fairly negative connotation in Jersey (and NY). It's usually doughy and what you eat late at night after the bars.
I think Carlos is way better than that. Simply put, this pizza is awesome.
The issue is this: it's expensive. $23 for a cheese pizza before any toppings are added. Granted, it's an 18" pie, but there are 2 pizza places in the area that offer similar pizza (equal quality) and they start at $13-14 for their base cheese.
Slices are odd--you can only get slices with cheese or pepperoni. This is just silly to me. You have toppings for a large pie; make your customers a slice they want.
All in all, I love their product but I fear they may not last in a family-heavy area. The price of the pizzas is way too much to feed a normal middle class family. Maybe the white collar clientele will keep them open, and I hope they do, but I do wish they offered more on the slices and a more competitive price on all their food. $15 for a meatball sub, even in 2022, just seems high. This isn't NYC; you're in East Cobb.
Anyway, the pizza is awesome and if I'm in the area, I'll stop by, but for that price point, I'll just go downtown to for...
Read moreIf you are looking for NJ pizza in Atlanta - stop looking now and go to Carlo’s in Marietta. Don’t let the small storefront in a shopping plaza deter you. The pizza at Carlo’s is the real thing. I was born and raised in NJ, spending summers on the Jersey Shore. NJ Boardwalk Pizza still calls me back every summer. Since moving to Atlanta last year I have been on a search for great Pizza. I was recently in NJ and a friend’s son told us about Carlo’s in Marietta. When we arrived this afternoon we were greeted and questions about the pizzas were explained. We ordered the Boardwalk Cheese. The crust was perfect. The sauce and cheese were delicious. The grease was the appropriate drip down your arm. The perfect pizza. When we were done I asked about the water they used. The brothers took the time to introduce themselves, their “Momma”, and give us a little history of their Pizza ventures in Atlanta. We...
