My Girlfriend & I Both Seniors meet here more recently for the buffet. And of course a good meeting place for socialization once or twice a month.
What bothers me most is - No Senior Citizen Discount posted or offered & when you inquired - the cashier on both occasions acted as “How dare you ask” reluctantly ask for proof - ask your age!
I pull out my DMV Drivers License, My MEDICARE Card & Ask how old am I? I say 65 years old - No Response - the cashier reaction & non verbal - body language & the fact have NO Response as to how much a discount - gives the receipt given $1.65 discount off $30.00 bill.
Additionally - while eating of course - WE are both RETIRED this is our outing - both of us NOTICED on both recent occasions our Server seems to be rushing us to leave - of course we Noticed because he actually asked - more than twice ARE YOU Finish? Giving us our bill as another signal for us to leave.
Having concern WE look over the Restaurant - There are vacant seats - WE have Not tried to spend the entire day or night - this is simply our meeting spot & we do plan to eat, relax between our salad, main course to dessert giving our food time to go down!
We also thought about time limits - being in violation for possible citing - WE ask our Server is there TIME Limits - Restrictions on eating here? He responded NO!
I pose this to Fairfax County Commerce to look into these practices of this business establishment
I see several folks spoke on Servers Workers rudeness & YES they are & can be - they need to know ALL this will AFFECT their tip to NO Tipi!
Yes - Food is good & new renovations very cozy but the bad will out weigh ALL that & folks will go elsewhere!
We use to come here from work- Fairfax County Government- Family Gatherings- Weddings use this Place too & May stay 2-3 hours.
No 10-15 Percent Senior Citizens Discount ? You get $1.65 just to say you did a Discount - 🤦♀️ this is America Older Folks are NOT Dumb
You ARE NOT the only Buffett in the area If folks get fed up & go elsewhere than ALL the RENOVATIONS will be on you!
I’ve been coming to this spot for years perhaps back as early...
Read morePositives: Staff were all very nice and friendly, dining area kept very clean, buffet offers a huge variety of choices and was very reasonably priced. I want to like this place, and it has a lot of potential. Negatives: There were some food safety concerns in my mind with the buffet; foods meant to be kept cold, most importantly sushi, were not kept actively chilled and instead just left at room temperature until consumed, and several hot foods I tried (like the mashed potatoes, fries, and warm noodle dishes) were not being properly kept hot, but were only room temperature or even slightly cold in places. The food quality was mixed; some dishes were OK tasting and others (aside from being inadequately heated) were pretty poor quality, and were either very greasy, or sickly sweet when you would be expecting more savory flavors. Bottom line: if you want to gorge yourself on the more expensive items on the buffet like shrimp, blue crab, crawfish, oysters, ribs, duck, prime rib, etc, and you don't care as much about food quality as you do food quantity, then this buffet could be a great value for you; if you're squeamish about food safety standards, this may not be the place for you at all -- but if you do go, I would stay away from the sushi and other raw seafood like oysters, or anything that doesn't look like it is being kept heated properly or chilled properly. I took a chance and ate both the sushi and the raw oysters on my visit today, and I will update my review if I get sick. Again, place has a lot of potential, and I would love to see it succeed. With attention to detail regarding safety standards for the buffet, and little more finesse in the recipes and food prep , it could be a great restaurant and a great value. But right now, it's not a place I am anxious to...
Read moreFebruary 2005 review: Good buffet. Food & drinks selections are plenty. You can find a variety of American and East Asian dish selections. The sushi bar has many delicious options, the soup station has 3-4 options, and several food made to be cooked as short order. The dessert bar offers ample bakery and fresh fruit selection. You can order alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. There is a separate dining area for a group reservation. Service is better at this buffet than other buffet restaurants. The restrooms are clean and have a baby changing station. The tables and booths have enough space for baby stroller. This place also has highchair on site. I have repeatedly come to this place to dine in, for my catering needs and for large gatherings. IT'S THAT DELICIOUS! Green Olive Buffet is the QUIET GEM IN THE MOUNT VERNON-HYBLA VALLEY Corridor.
Post Covid Era Review: Since reopening after the covid 2020 time, the food options have decreased dramatically. I am no longer inclined to spend time at this place as often as I used to (2-3 times a month) because of the changes and less great food. The environment itself and the service staff are still a good thing, but I am looking to the time when this place offers the best sushi, short order food, and dessert options like they have done in the past. Between this place and other buffet options at other places, Green Olive Buffet delivers THE CLEANLIEST RESTAURANT, AMPLE PARKING OPTIONS, FRIENDLY, ATTENTIVE, HOSPITABLE & COMPETENT SERVICE STAFF, and the TASTIEST WIDE SELECTION OF...
