Read moreThis was my first visit to Gus’s Hot Dog King, and Wow! Talk about stepping back in time. The atmosphere of Gus’s is what every family eatery of the 40’s - early 60’s wanted to be. The kitschy five foot hot dog squirting ketchup on his head. The Oscar Mayer hot dog mobile. Even the building itself with the A- frame style and bright paint job. The menu is exactly what you would expect from a restaurant called Hot Dog King; dogs of different sizes and available toppings such as chili and cheese, brats, burgers, and sandwiches all grilled to perfection on a flat iron grill. The free added toppings list is amazing. Add on onion rings or fries again chili & cheese or both are available toppings. And what kind of hot dog/ burger joint would they be if they didn’t off tall thick milkshakes, ice cold sodas. And a nice array of comfort desserts. I grabbed a beer brat and fries to go totaling just under $9. The brat was perfectly cooked with a snap on a soft steamed roll whatever brand it was perfectly seasoned. Just a little small. With a regular order of average precut frozen fries that in my humble opinion could have been cooked just a tad longer for color, taste and texture. I wasn’t full, two I guess would be the magic number of brats. That would be a $15 lunch without beverage. Maybe a little bit pricey. But Gus’s Hot Dog King is a must try. If you’re a kid at heart of about 50 it will certainly bring back your childhood memories of your...
Read moreOrdered 2 cheeseburgers and a Sprite or whatever they call it now. I was pretty shocked when the total was $16 and some change. I assume the drink was $2 so that's $7 a burger. Bonus the order was wrong and these guys used a HALF a piece of cheese on a $7 burger. I asked for Onions, pickles mayo mustard. When I signed the receipt I tipped $2 cause the lady was sweet and thought to myself these better be some delicious cheeseburgers because I just paid $18 total. I get home and these patties are thin frozen patties you buy at the grocery store and they're undercooked. No onions. And literally half a piece of cheese. I could've gotten better quality on a mcdouble. I called up there just tell em about the quality and he did offer to remake the order but yea I'm not driving back up there. They use bad quality Ingridents and charge high...
