If you're in the Tyson’s Corner area and craving bold, flavorful Chinese cuisine with a spicy kick, look no further than Halal Hunan Village. From the moment you walk in, the warm hospitality of Auntie Tina (the owner) makes you feel like part of the family. She’s truly the heart and soul of the place, always ready with a smile and more than willing to adjust the spice level to your liking—one of the many reasons I keep coming back!
We started off with the Chicken Corn Soup, which is a perfect balance of savory chicken and sweet corn in a comforting, lightly seasoned broth. It’s a dish that’s rich in flavor yet light enough to start off your meal.
Next, the Chicken Lo Mein did not disappoint. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the chicken was tender and flavorful, with just the right amount of soy-based sauce. It’s a simple dish done exceptionally well—something you could easily crave for days.
The Black Pepper Chicken is a standout. If you love a little heat, this dish is an absolute must. The chicken was juicy, stir-fried to perfection, and coated in a bold black pepper sauce that delivers a delightful spicy punch without overpowering the other flavors.
And then there’s the Thai Spicy Rice—a hidden gem on the menu. If you’re a fan of spicy rice dishes, this is the one to try. It’s bursting with flavor and just the right amount of heat, perfectly complementing the other dishes. It’s spicy, but not painfully so—just enough to satisfy any heat-seeker.
What really sets Halal Hunan Village apart, aside from the consistently delicious food, is the exceptional service. Auntie Tina is always welcoming, and she goes out of her way to make sure your meal is exactly how you like it—whether that means adjusting spice levels or offering recommendations.
If you’re in the mood for an authentic, halal Chinese meal packed with flavor and spice, I cannot recommend this place enough. You’ll leave happy, full, and already planning your next visit. 5 stars all the way!

Encouraged by the favorable reviews I went into this place for the first time to order takeout. It was Vegetable Fried Rice with EXTRA onions, Vegetable Egg Foo Young with EXTRA onions, Spring Rolls, one Egg Drop Soup and one Chicken-Corn Soup. I emphasized several times about the extra onions, and the server assured me it would be done. She even seemed annoyed that I repeated myself.
When I got home with the food I discovered that the Vegetable Fried Rice not only didn't have extra onions, it had NO onions. None. The cook not only disregarded my simple, easy request but reversed it. There were almost no other vegetables or egg in the rice either. The two containers of soup were so similar I couldn't tell which was which. Neither had any chicken or even one kernel of corn. They were effectively two Chicken Egg Drop soups. I paid a higher charge for the Chicken-Corn Soup and was given the cheaper Chicken Egg Drop Soup.
The Vegetable Egg Foo Young was okay, and seemed to contain lots of onions. But they only gave me half a container of the sauce, not enough to cover the three omelets.
The Spring Rolls consisted almost entirely of shredded cabbage, very little else.
I found it odd at first that they didn't serve Roast Pork Fried Rice until I learned that this restaurant is also Halal, thus no pork.
I wasted $50 in this place....
