La Tapatía — Restaurant in Contiguous United States

This place has been under renovation since we moved here in 2019. So, when the sign for a new restaurant went up, we were quite excited... until we realized it was YET another Mexican restaurant. With the Taco Truck, La Fogata Truck, the new El Barrio (Mexican bar) and La Bodeguita, I wish we had a little more diversity.

Meanwhile, the food seemed quite good. My wife and I had the enchiladas, very tasty, and our table mates seem to be getting some nice looking dishes as well.

So, why not 5 stars. Well, the place is noisy. With hard walls, hard ceilings, and hard floors, it was very hard for me to hear the conversation at my table. I'm telling you, if you're over 60, this is probably not the place for you. A ray of hope, though, they seem to be preparing the side patio for outdoor dining. The food is great, the people are great, but we just had a chili Riano w/ beans and rice and a combo meal with a soda and iced tea and it was $63 not counting tip. I think this restaurant will be out of our price range most of the time. Hopefully the tourist coming to town well...
