I have many things to say about this place.
Firstly, the food is good and nicely portioned, also reasonable for the price (not even that high). The pastries are delicious, but I found the red bean filling of the mochi to be too much, which caused me to only eat the outside and a little bit of the filling (had to discard the rest). I would suggest reducing the amount of filling, but that is just a personal preference. The bingsoo and bulgogi sandwich (not sure if that's the name) were great.
Secondly, I would like to compliment the superb customer service. My brother and I each ordered our own portion of the bulgogi sandwich which came with a platter of fries. After a bite, we realized the sandwiches were cold. I was fine with the sandwich being cold, but my brother preferred having it hot so he just asked the miss working at the counter to heat up his sandwich in the microwave. She came to me too and asked if I wanted mine to be heat up, which I declined because I didn't mind. She did not heat up my brother's sandwich, but instead gave him another new and hot portion--not only of the sandwich, but the fries too. However, that's not all! She then brought out another portion of sandwich and fries for me. So in the end, my brother and I ended up with 4 portions of the sandwich and fries. I applaud the miss for her customer service, and would definitely come back here again. I've recommended this place to my friends and look forward to my next...
Read moreI love this bakery. I used to regular a Korean bakery down the street. Since I found Manoa, I haven't been back. The people who work the counter at Manoa are really nice. Though they're busy, they don't make you feel like they can't wait for you to let the next person pay. It's generally busy, but I never feel rushed. I also like the look of the bakery. It's a large space, and they have plenty of seating.
Now about the food . . .Every time I go to Manoa, I try a different baked good and a different drink. I haven't found one that I didn't like. Their strawberry soboro cookie is quite tasty. I also really enjoyed their custard bread. The last time I went, I got one of the honey breads. It was just over $5, included an inside-out, grilled cheese sandwich that had honey in it. It also came with a salad and banana, neither of which I was expecting. I also have been trying their Korean teas. Their honey citron tea was one of the tastiest teas I've ever had. I wanted to go right back and have another.
I find Manoa both pleasant and tasty. I would highly...
Read moreTried Manoa out one night for dinner (ordered via UberEATS) getting 3 types of 'panini' sandwiches. First and foremost, these are subs and not paninis - you won't get pressed, grill-marked sandwiches. That didn't bother me too much but could others if expecting a real panini.
Also, I noticed errors on the menu for every sandwich with the ingredient spinach. What should be listed instead is lettuce. Again, a silly oversight but not a deal breaker.
As for the 3 sandwiches I ordered, the biggest disappointment was the Bulgogi panini. Half the beef was full of gristle and had to be removed. Taste was good, however. Also had the ham and cheese and chicken paninis, and I thought each were fine - both flavorable. The size of the sandwiches are satisfyingly large, and the added fries are an equally yummy portion size, too.
I'd go back to Manoa and try their other offerings even though the Bulgogi panini was a let down. I think they are better known for their other menu items anyway. I'll update this should...
