Everything about this place was absolutely amazing. We were greeted and seated by Dominique, who actually is the store manager. Our server was Jamere, who was very professional, helpful, lighthearted, gave us food & drink suggestions, and was always in view when we needed something. Plus, the place wasn't very crowded, but I've later come to find out that it probably should be, always have a line out the door and reservations for days because that food was a 💯 out of 💯.
We came from Philadelphia, and the person who bought us had been here 5 times already. She's a chef herself, and her food is always on point as well, so I couldn't wait to try it. For someone who would rather eat at home because their food is so delicious but instead willingly treated 5 additional people to lunch, I ALREADY KNEW it had to be everything and more❣️ I had the catfish (4 pc), grits & 1 fried green tomatoe. Now understand, we got caught staring at the last food behind me that we ended up saying hello, apologizing and asking what were they having because everything came out looking like it was in a magazine and plated beautifully. The fried tomatoes were so good. The catfish was freshly fried, seasoned with a balance and a crunch to remember. The grits were super creamy, with the right amount of cheese, and was thick enough for me to dip my catfish in. We got there around 2, and I was full for the rest of the day to be clear. 2nd order: French toast, & turkey sausage with sides of cream cheese, strawberries, & blueberries, the freshest and most tasteful fruit I've ever eaten at a restaurant 😋. The French toast was thick & delicious. The sausage tasted like they're hand crafted on site with the right amount of spices for a bite to wow you every time, & it was fried perfectly. This was on the kids' menu. 3rd order: Crab Cake Benedict. It wasn't on the menu, so ask for it. Baby, I've never tasted anything like this. Although I loved my food, I would've loved this equally. I will get it the next time. She ordered hers with a fried egg instead of the scrambled egg, it sits in a Cajun sauce with two delicious crab cakes that you can't stop rolling your eyes while eating, with peppers yummy peppers in a delicious Cajun sauce. Now here's where we ran into a slight issue. The food came out in two sections. We got our food and was told it'll be about a 10-minute wait for everyone who ordered a chicken dish. We said no problem but thought why not just give us all of our food together still. Honestly, I'm glad they didn't because I would've never waited had I not tasted my food and the other dishes. The wait turned out to be over 30 minutes. So we all ate to our full and waited for the others to eat their food there nice and hot as we enjoyed ours. Three different people gave us three different times & not including the actual wait time. It was explained that they had th filter (change) the grease and fry new chicken. However, we were with a senior citizen who just rode up from Philly (2.5 hr ride), who needed to eat. I was thinking the food was being filtered because she asked if they cooked the fish and chicken in the same grease because she's allergic to seafood. They told us no. She didn't want anything else because everyone wanted what they wanted. 2 ppl ordered the chicken and sweet potato waffles that had a delicious brown sugar syrup, crunchy fried chicken fried to perfection nice & hot. 6th order: smothered biscuits with chicken strip in a Cajun sauce 😋 Dominique, the store manager apologized, took care of us due to the wait, and it truly was well with it. We WILL BE BACK! Wish I could add more, but there's not enough room. Please try them out and tell a friend to tell a friend. They're also black owned. I loved it there. Thanks again to the staff they were really beautiful, and the establishment, including the bathroom, was nice and clean with lovely outdoor lighting aiding in the atmosphere. If this was helpful, please give a like and follow so I know to add more places. Sorry so long❣️I'd give them 100...
Read moreThis was my 2nd visit to Milk & Honey. On my first visit, it was good as far as the food. The drinks we ordered didn't come until after the food. Our server was fine until we put in our order, then they were just gone. We had to flag someone down to get the water we asked for 3 times. Ok maybe an off day.
This morning, I took my husband there for breakfast, even though it's more expensive than our usual breakfast dates. Our server was great, very attentive and friendly. That's the only positive thing I can say.
We were very disappointed to discover that they do not have decaf coffee! I'm ok with that, but my husband can't have caffeine.
My husband got the cheesecake pancakes with the description as "fluffy pancakes...with peaches, blueberries & strawberries". There were maybe 5 berries and a little peach spread. They were tasty and a good sized portion.
I was considering the avocado toast and asked if it was just sliced avocado on the toast or mixed with any seasoning. They said it was a spread. Ok. I also opted for the smoked salmon add-on. What came out was 1 piece of toast, an egg and 4 TINY slices of avocado. Should be described as a fried egg on toast with avocado garnish. (See picture) I didn't send it back because the other dish was there and I didn't want to wait. I regret that decision. The egg on toast was ok, but the toast was hard to cut through. I had a bite with some salmon and it wasn't tasty. I figured it was how they smoked it. I went to take a bite of the salmon and as soon as I put the fork to my mouth, the smell hit me. It didn't smell right. I couldn't figure it out, thought they just prepared it differently than I'm used to. I took a bite and had spit it out. It was bad fish. Not uniquely prepared... it had gone bad. I immediately felt my stomach turn. I let our server know and she took the salmon. When she came back she told us the manager smelled it and confirmed it was bad. Seriously? I was shocked, even more so that the manager didn't come to address it with us. I tried to eat some pancakes but i couldn't get past the smell and taste of the bad fish that lingered, especially knowing I had eaten a big bite earlier. I wasn't able to keep my food down and had to get to their bathroom quick. I was physically ill (nicest way to say it)
Cost: $14 mimosa $12 peach mule $5 cappuccino $20 pancakes $14 avocado toast $5 salmon add-on (was taken off the check) $65 total before tax & tip
(We did tip our server 20% as she was great and it wasn't her fault the food was bad)
In summary, way overpriced, no quality control, my stomach still doesn't feel right, and I'm...
Read moreWe visited Milk and Honey yesterday 11/4/23. The wait was about 30 minutes, not too bad. We waited a bit for the server and she finally came over. She asked if we wanted beverages and my companion ordered an Arnold Palmer. I brought a bottled water in which is what I normally do. We ordered our food right after. I ordered first, which was deep fried biscuits with no strawberries or whipped cream. Then I ordered the wings. He ordered a chicken sandwich and salad. His food came out rather quickly. Maybe 12 minutes later my biscuits came out. He began eating his food and I ate a biscuit which had strawberries on it and whipped cream. (I did ask to hold the whipped cream and strawberries). So after 15 minutes I asked the waitress for the wings. She stated they would be out shortly. Another ten minutes went by and no wings. I even asked her for more powdered sugar and she didn’t bring that. I had to ask another server to bring it. By this time I was annoyed because I haven’t gotten my wings. I asked our server which avoided our table constantly. So I said excuse me, where are the wings? She says they come out in the order they are put in 🤔huh? We got everything else at a decent time. So after realizing he was finishing his meal I was annoyed! We stopped the manager and told her our issue. She states that she saw our order and wings were never on the ticket. I said impossible I ordered my food before he did. She spoke to the waitress and she forgot to put my order in. But because she wasn’t honest and avoided me I was done! She never came out to tell the truth which would have been understandable. The waitress actually had a bit of an attitude. Why? I don’t know because she was in the wrong. The manager did take the wings off because they still didn’t arrive anyway. The manager also said she would take something of his meal as well. The manager also stated she would have a conversation with the waitress after closing hours. The waitress tried to put the order in but it was a bit too late. It was very crowded and super noisy. The music was blasting and the place is very small. I will definitely not be returning because I expect good customer service. Be attentive to the customer and listen...
