We have eaten here many timed. And the place is sinking more and more into being one of the worst places i have been. I wanted a burger. But wife wanted Mexican. We chose here. Her lunch hour so her choice. She ordered an enchilada plate. I ordered a cheese burger. I have had them here before. Not great. But not bad. 1) they now only have it on the kids menu. But i was assured they had an afult sized burger... No they didnt. 2) it looked like a cardboard thin frozen patty. The cheapest kind you can get at Wal-Mart. It was covered in some white film. It had obviously been microwaved and for too long. It was dry and cardboard would have been better. 3) when it was brought to me it was just the burger and the bun and looked as if it had been punched downward into the plate. I told the waitress who brought it ( not our waiter) how bad it looked. She nodded but seemed to know no Englush. Our waiter came over and saw the burger. His face fell. I asked him if he would tollerate that burger. He shook his head no and agreed it looked disgusting. The manager came over and offered to take it back and make something else. I'm allergic to peppers and they put those on moat everything there. And my wufe had gotten her food and she had little time left. (It took them over 20 min to get us our food and this was 10 min after that. And we still needef time to get her back to work.) To make matters worse. My blood sugar was tanking and i needed to eat. I ate it. Then threw it up in the bathroom. The meat tasted off and my moith immediately began to taste metalic.
To make matters worse my wife started feeling sick that afternoon and threw up her enchaladas. But she said they tasted pretty bad flavor wise and only ate them because she was hungry.
The staff was polite. The food HORRID and bad. We will never go there again. I am told they are known for their margaritas... But not sure that makes a restaurant.

Read moreMexican and TexMex food is easy to find in my area of west Houston. I have my favorites, but if I want the taste of Mexico without driving far from home, a place I will frequently visit is Ray’s Mexican Restaurant on Mason Road in Katy.
At Ray’s, guests will find the usual assortment of Mexican and TexMex options, most all of them accompanied by rice and refried beans. There is a good selection of appetizers and they make a good choice if your party needs something served as quickly as possible. Some of them are hearty enough to be a meal. Often, just a serving of quesadillas, beef or chicken, is enough for me and serves as my dinner, even though it’s considered an appetizer.
If I want a little more food, I will go for one of the TexMex Combos, like the Acapulco Dinner or the Veracruz Dinner. One of the enchilada plates is also a good choice. And I appreciate that they even have a section of Light Meals if you’re appetite is lighter than usual. The presentation of the food is not always the best, as many of the items end up running together on your plate, but the taste is good, and that is what matters.
For drinks, people love the margaritas served at Ray’s, and they are probably your best bet. The beer selection isn’t the greatest, so I recommend margaritas or a cocktail, if you want some booze. Otherwise, I find that washing it all down with a glass of iced tea is best.
Ray’s is located in a strip mall, so parking is easy to find, and free. It’s a good place for Mexican and TexMex in the west suburb of Katy and more than good enough to satisfy your...
Read moreFrom my very first visit, Ray's never disappoints. The service is outstanding, the food is great, and the best frozen margaritas on the planet! And I have tried margaritas across Texas. I am super particular about cheese enchiladas, and theirs are the best. You have never had such a tender rib plate, and yes I said rib plate at a Mexican food restaurant! The beef nachos-delish. Oh, and for the Keto people, you must get the PK special and a side of the broccoli or the grilled veggies. WOW! DELICIOUS. oh and the Tortilla soup! Here is what happens, you are made to feel like friends from your fist visit. The owners, Ray & Gloria, are down to earth and genuine good people. Their son's are are so kind, professional and genuinely want you to enjoy yourself. After so many years, you feel like family. All the staff get to know you, they treat you like family and are glad to see you when you come in. I tell everyone it is like the show "Cheers" - everyone knows your name. I have met so many good people by just getting to know them by sitting near them, sitting at the bar for a to-go order, waiting outside for a table, etc. Anyone who visits me from out-of-town, they make sure I know Ray's is a definite plan during their visit. It is my weekly delight. Okay fine sometimes more than once a week. What can I say, when you leave they say, "See you tomorrow". I take that...
