I don’t like leaving bad reviews, but I also believe that honest feedback is necessary for businesses to recognize areas that need improvement. Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was disappointing, and we don’t plan on returning.
We spent $80 on our meal, yet most of the food remained untouched because no one in our group could eat it. The croquettes and tostones were unappetizing, appearing as if they had been fried in old, overused oil that gave them a dark, unappealing color. The pork was the most concerning—it was half raw and had an off-putting smell, making it feel unsafe to eat. That alone was enough to ruin our meal.
The mamey milkshake was the only thing that was passable, though nothing remarkable. The Cuban sandwich, at least, looked better prepared than the rest of the dishes, but by that point, our overall impression of the food had already been soured.
I genuinely hope the owners take this feedback seriously because running a restaurant is no easy task, and I imagine they have put a lot of effort into building their business. However, attention to detail—especially when it comes to food quality and preparation—is crucial. If these issues aren’t addressed, they risk losing more customers. The food truck has cool pictures on it of different items on the menu. The staff was friendly and helpful as we looked over the menu. They have a physical menu to look over and the prices are reasonable. At the suggestion of the woman taking our order we tried the classic Ropa Vieja. We also ordered the fried croquettes and tried the fried pork. The Ropa Vieja was extremely tender and juicy. The rice and beans were also tender and nicely seasoned. The fried pork was crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. The pork was delicious on it's own but a side sauce would have added even more flavor. The fried croquettes were perfect and for the price, a great snack. The exterior was perfectly crunchy and the interior was creamy and nicely seasoned. If you are anywhere in the area, the Taste of Cuba food truck is definitely a...
Read moreDuring my visit to Bradenton, I couldn’t miss the chance to enjoy a taste of home… and Taste of Cuba was the perfect spot. From the moment you walk in, you feel that warm, welcoming vibe that only Cuban food can offer.
I tried the ropa vieja, and it was absolutely delicious! Great flavor, generous portion, and that authentic touch that takes you straight back to Cuba. They also offer lighter bites like stuffed tostones and croquettes, perfect for sharing or snacking.
The place was spotless, the service was fast and super friendly, and the menu has something for everyone. Definitely a spot I recommend if you’re in the area and want to enjoy real Cuban flavor.
