Hate to be saying this because I have always loved the patio but after today I do not know if we will be back. Ordered eggs Benedict, over MEDIUM and stressed to the waitress that I’m pregnant so it’s important that the yolk doesn’t run all over the plate. She was totally on my level and agreed and said she would tell the kitchen. Kitchen messed up, I was served a very very runny yolk, and a second waitress immediately recognized the issue and brought it back to the kitchen to be remade. When she served it again, one egg was fine but the other was basically the same. Raw yolk. All over the plate. She said “that’s an over medium egg,” which I am assuming the kitchen staff told her to say. At this point we had been waiting an hour and a half in the heat for our food and i was desperate so I ate it. When our waitress checked on us again I told her I have never asked a business to comp food, but our experience today was stressful and any compensation would be appreciated. I wasn’t angry, rude or demanding, and she was totally obliging and agreed to put that in for me. But when my husband and I went to the counter to pay, there was a man at the counter, presumably kitchen staff, waiting to argue with me. He told me over medium is runny. I said “over medium is a jammy yolk, SLIGHTLY runny. We were served VERY runny.” He argued so I pulled up Google. Surprise surprise. Google says “jammy yolk, slightly runny.” When he realized he lost the argument, he then tried to change the premise of the argument by saying I said it’s not runny at all. Which I never said. I said jammy yolk, slightly runny. But we were served very very runny. He then tried to pin it on the waitress, saying the issue was communication. I said no, her communication was perfect. She knows what an over medium egg is. He was very indignant. The waitress had already rung up my ticket with a compensation of a whopping $2.60 on a $37 tab, so this man was arguing with me over $2.60 which I continuously said I’m not demanding but would appreciate in light of our long, hot, 2 hour stressful experience. Because I like this place and would have liked to come back. But I do not at all understand the rationale behind starting a needless argument with a pregnant woman, in the heat, about eggs.
We tipped our waitress well and left but after that treatment I don’t know if I can support this business further, especially if he takes any part in management....
Read moreWe have been twice but unfortunately, I don't think we will be going back. I will start with the positives. The Eggs Benedict is fantastic! The eggs were cooked perfectly. The biscuits and gravy were also really good. The hashbrowns are delicious. The grits were terrible though. You can tell that a lot of the food is made fresh with love. Now for the bad, the first time that we went, the service was terrible. This time the service was mediocre at best. The worst part about it was the seat yourself atmosphere. We arrived at 12:30 pm and there was a wait. The area to wait in is small and it was very hard to keep up with who was ahead of us. It felt like you had to be on guard to battle for a table which was extremely frustrating to my husband since we had a toddler that didn't want to sit still. Two groups that came in after us jumped in front of us to grab a table before us. My husband and I decided to split up to guard uncleaned tables so that we could jump on them as soon as they were cleared. Three tables sat unbussed for nearly 20 minutes despite the wait. It was a very stressful way to start a meal. We eventually had to be extra assertive and verbally claim a table when someone that came in behind us again tried to sit at a table before us. Finally we got a table and ordered right away as soon as our server greeted us. It took 50 minutes to receive our food. My husband sat with an empty coffee cup for a long time. I ordered a Mocha and when I was about half way finished with it, I ordered another one but before I realized it, our server had taken away my almost half full cup. Thankfully, she did not charge me for either one or I would have had a huge problem with that. To top it all off, on our way out the door, they offered to bag up our food. The server accidentally squeezed my box and the other half of my Eggs Benedict dropped to ground. I was offered another one but unfortunately, I didn't have time to wait 30+ minutes for a replacement. Accidents happen but it was just icing on the cake on an already frustrating experience. I highly recommend the food but the rest of the experience was stressful and...
Read moreThis location is really.....strange. I use the term 'location' rather than anything else, because we ate here when it was Something Brewing - and, as far as I can see, the exact same issues still plague the place.
It does take very long to get your food. Whether or not that bothers you - you decide.
This is a breakfast spot, however when I asked for my usual coffee beverage of choice (a cappuccino) - they didn't have it. Don't do cappuccino. So.....you're pretty much stuck with regular black-or-white coffee. Which is a little....underwhelming.
This is the biggest gripe I have with this place - and to be honest it's been an issue since it was labeled Something Brewing. ALL food is served lukewarm/room temp or cold. I mean - everything. You are truly lucky if you get a lukewarm food item. I don't know if their kitchen is too small or their one cook is just overwhelmed but - she must literally make each food item, put it on a plate, and then move on to the next food item. There can't be any concurrent food prep going on. Consequently, the majority of your dish has been sitting on a cold plate for ~15 mins by the time you get it. Massive deal breaker.
The food is so-so. Nothing special. Would be better if it was hot. My husband had biscuits and gravy and some bacon and eggs - it was OK but all cold. I had the 'multigrain pancakes' - which were pretty rough and had suffered from a heavy hand with the cinnamon. They were OK but pretty.....chewy and doughy. Oh - and cold.
So....all in all, you decide. If you just eat to fuel, rather than enjoy the experience (and don't mind spending $40 for a breakfast for two), go for it. Just know that everything will be...
