I cannot recommend Take Out.
My family and I were traveling from Missouri to Louisiana and approaching Conway around lunchtime. Found The Purple Cow on Google Maps along our route, so we called in an order to keep our travel schedule. I was told it would be ready to pick up in 20 minutes. I got there about 25 minutes later. It wasn't ready. I finally received our order an ADDITIONAL 20 minutes later. So that's 45 minutes after calling it in. I paid and took the food to my waiting family in the car where we realized the dipping sauce for the sweet potato fries and the dressing for the salad were both missing. I went back inside to get them. Returned to the car and realized that there also was no fork to eat the salad. I went back inside again. By the time I was finally settled in the car with everything we needed to eat and get back on the road, we were a half hour behind schedule. Nearly an hour had passed since I had called in the order.
The Cobb salad was good, and the club sandwich was good. The kids grilled cheese was far from the world's best, as it was super basic. Sweet potato fries were limp and soggy. I guess they made those first. I was disappointed as I had high hopes. Definitely wasn't worth $45 for that...
Read moreWe had a very inconsistent lunch visit on a rainy Monday. Our orders were taken pretty quickly. When our food soon came out, the white balsamic and caramel salad I ordered didn’t include the additional chicken I requested. I brought this up and the server apologized, saying it’d be about 5 minutes (it was more like 10). Meanwhile, my husband ate his steak knife smokehouse burger with fries and our son worked on his fries; their food was all good. My salad came out with the chicken, which was exceptionally good, especially with a drizzle of the unique and delicious dressing. I had to stop the server, though, to request napkins, which he hadn’t provided.
The most serious misstep came at payment time. The credit card payment slip was $3 more than the itemized receipt. My husband took a picture of the receipts side by side. At that point, after the delays with my meal, we really needed to go. He calculated the server’s error into the tip and off we went.
We both know what it’s like to be a new worker someplace. Our server was new and seriously needed more training, and I hope he gets it. While the kitchen makes good food, this is not a place we would visit again...
Read moreIt was my son’s 12th birthday and he wanted a Purple Milkshake to end his birthday weekend so where else do you go except to the Purple Cow! This was the first time we had visited the Conway location and they did not disappoint at all. Even though it was a very busy Saturday afternoon, with lots of large groups in town, the entire staff there was keeping up with everyone and making sure that their orders were coming out fast, hot and fresh. If you are looking for something different for your burger needs, I’d highly recommend the “Five Alarm Burger”, now don’t let the name fool you. It is not something that is going to scorch your mouth so you won’t be able to taste anything else. Instead it is a great combination of spice, heat and flavor. Just make sure you have plenty of napkins because it is going to get messy. I can not remember our waitresses name, but she took care of us like we were the only ones in the place. Even making sure that the kids had all they needed. So if you are out and about in the Conway/Hendrix College area, stop on by and grab a burger and don’t forget the shake. It will be the highlight...
