I’m not a really picky person at all but the whole stay was terrible. From check in I stood at the desk for 3 awkward minutes while the clerk vaped and played on her phone and when she finally noticed me she was almost annoyed and got a sarcastic sounding “how can I help you” checked in and paid. Went to room 107 to which the door needed fixed. Barely opens or closes. Room was not clean. Pet hair, mounds of dust everywhere and stained sheets and towels, but I reminded myself it was fairly cheap I can deal with it. Didn’t want to complain. Got our stuff in and took the kids to the pool. There was boxes of open cereal, bowls full of cereal everywhere, trash everywhere. Wet toilet paper everywhere… underwear and clothing strung about. There was no towels nothing to dry off with and the exit in the pool room was broken and open. We tried to shut it and informed the clerk and they didn’t care so anyone could just walk in… while in the pool I had thrown out leafs, chewed gum, and broken pieces of the pool out of the pool, picked up tacks and threw away cause it was a hazard to be on the floor in there. Tried to make the best out of the scenario. Went back to our room tried to turn on the heat but our thermostat was broken so tried to turn it on at the unit. Which was successful but baby roaches started running out of the unit. Once we got dry we tried to switch it to ac as we like to sleep cool and it was broken it would run for about 5 minutes and turn off no matter what we tried. So it made for a miserable night. About 11 to midnight for a hour the fire alarms kept going off. Finally went to the front desk to ask what was up. They told us someone was smoking outside and setting it off… they said they took the batteries and unplugged it so it would stop disturbing people… my husband used to work on fire and security alarms and his father still does that’s against fire code. We reported it to the police to which the fire department was said to have came out and cleared it as okay but made for a restless night knowing that there was no fire alarms in the event of a emergency…. Tried the 24 hour hot coffee bar to find out it was a 24 hour cold stagnant coffee bar… I did let the hotel know about the roaches and air situation and they said at 1am they can move us rooms but my kids were already asleep and I’d have to repack the room and wake them and it seemed like more hassle when I already needed sleep to begin with… worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at… breakfast was just as disappointing… the eggs were dry and hard… the potato bell pepper mix was not done. Cold crunchy potatos… least there was hot coffee...
Read moreFirst off, when semi trucks park on the only road to the hotel (it’s behind other hotels and businesses) it’s hard to find and even more difficult to maneuver into.
Once checked in, it’s immediately noticeable that this place has gotten run down. All furnishings are modern but very worn. Luggage carts are falling apart, elevator buttons rarely work. Lobby floors are uneven like the tiles are lifting.
This property boasts its an all non-smoking hotel but cigarette and marijuana smoke are very present in the common areas and hallways. Late at night the room started smelling overwhelmingly of cigarette smoke (we were upper floor with window closed). It was coming through the door.
Inside the room, the safety door latch was broken and had one screw only holding it on. No way that would stop anyone. Window locks were broken so windows couldn’t be secured. TV, microwave and refrigerator were all unplugged. TV remote was broken and looked like it was chewed up by an animal. Front desk couldn’t help us with fixing TV, but I plugged in all the appliances. Room was not dirty per se but not deep cleaned and furnishings were worn. We attempted to try to operate the e TV without a remote but it was stuck on Roku and game, neither of which were in the room. So someone likely used their own and never reset the TV or simply stole the hotel’s equipment. Toilet didn’t flush correctly. All issues were reported to front desk and an offer to upgrade was made but we got in later in the evening and were already unpacked.
In the morning, I went to use the business office to print some items and the printer didn’t work nor the computer. When attempting to figure out the printer, I saw the toner stolen. Front desk had no idea it was missing. They offered to print my items for free.
No offer to discount or otherwise reimburse us for our stay was made. We made the choice to stay in the room when offered the upgrade but I didn’t think it was worth the effort seeing the shape of the rest of the property.
My suggestion is to hire a better maintenance person, check for stolen items, unplugged items during every cleaning and check in amenities, such as the business office supplies every shift.
It’s a newer property but not well maintained....
Read moreThis was my first stay at the La Quinta in Conway. We were there to have a final visit with my grandmother who was put on hospice the day before. I will be calling them directly to book a room there from now on. We got to our hotel and were checked in with no problems. Our room was nice and warm when we got there, which we were thankful for. The next morning I got up to take a shower after my mom called and said we needed to get there and the tub looked filthy. I ran a washcloth around the inside to find it caked with (I assume) soap scum and all the nastiness that comes with that. I also noticed the drain was clogged with hair and draining extra slow. I went downstairs, upset that I couldn't get a shower, and spoke with Lisa the manager on duty. Lisa is a godsend. Not only did she immediately apologize for the issue and offer to have it taken care of right then, she actually opened another room up so I could shower and get on with my day. She ended up letting us switch rooms for the remainder of our stay, just to make it easier for us. I was also offered a partial refund for my stay.
All of this is great, and greatly appreciated, but it was Lisa who was the star here. Not only did she do all that for us but when we got back that afternoon, she asked about my grandmother. This woman....she literally blew me away with that. I was so thankful that she took a few moments to think about my situation and ask about it. The next morning Lisa and I spoke some more. She really helped put my heart and mind at ease. She shared her own story with me and I cannot thank her enough. It is hard to connect with people these days and she really made a connection, an impact, with me. Thank you, Lisa, from the bottom of my heart, for being a friend to me, a stranger in your hotel. I will never forget your kindness last...
