Rock N Roll Sushi — Restaurant in Cookeville

We were excited about trying this restaurant. We drove 30 mins to get there and arrived at 8:08. They close at 9:00. Two hostesses were outside at the front door seating people. We parked there in the front and my boyfriend went to get us a table but was told they weren’t seating anyone else for the night. Ok cool. So I was gonna put in an order online for pick up. I’m looking at the menu on my phone, sitting in the car, still parked right at the front door, and another couple walks up to the podium. And guess what? They get a table! I’m obviously shocked. And angry. Another couple comes up and guess what? They get seated at the bar! My jaw dropped once again. At this point the hostess came up to our window and said we could sit at the bar. I was still upset so I declined the offer and said we’d just order online. She walked away and then came back a min or so later and said they’re not doing pickup orders for the first 2 weeks since they just opened. I felt very disrespected and confused as to why things even happened the way they did. I understand it’s a new place, new job for the employees and whatnot. I’m not trying to be a Karen. I just don’t understand what the deal was and why it happened. I’d be more understanding if there was a lot of people outside or people running in and out and super but it wasn’t like that at all. We have been to numerous Rock N Roll Sushi places throughout Florida while vacationing, so naturally we were excited one came to our hometown. I was very disappointed in this experience. I understand they just opened, but they did not have anything from the liquor menu available, no mock tails, did not serve some rolls that are on their online menu in this resturant, and our group was served their food and ate it all before 2 of us even got ours. They also brought my fiancés beer, not filled to the top, and said that they just ran out, without offering any discount or a free drink. So he paid full price for 3/4 the drink. The concept is cool especially if you’re into the rock-and-roll vibe but it misses the mark when it comes to traditional sushi. The menu is creative and fun, but the rolls don't rock.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. We visited in the middle of the day when several tables were open, yet our food still took about 15 minutes longer than expected. The waitress did her best to keep us updated, but overall, the experience fell short in several areas.

The prices are reasonable, but the food didn’t leave us satisfied. It’s worth trying once for the atmosphere, and buzz around town, but honestly, we won't be returning any time soon. There are much better sushi...
