I was driving through Coolidge with my ex when he suggested that we eat breakfast at Tag's Cafe. I was hungry, so, of course, I said yes! One catch, "It is to be your treat," he said. He was helping me out by giving me a ride to Gilbert, so how could I refuse!
Tag's Cafe is an unassuming eatery, one that you might pass by if you didn't know any better. Now I've only eaten there one time, and the one time was breakfast. So that is what I will speak to for now. But let me say it loud, that breakfast was downright, great!
We were seated right away. The waitress was friendly and quick to bring the menus and our drink orders. After ordering, our food was out in no time, as well.
My ex, Rick, and I each chose #6 from the menu, the breakfast special, which consisted of your choice of ham, bacon or sausage patties; served with 2 eggs, hashbrowns, and your choice of toast. He ordered iced tea and I ordered a rootbeer.
When our order was up, it was brought out quickly! There were no bells or whistles, just plenty of great-tasting food! The eggs, over hard, we're spot on; the rye toast was buttered perfectly, clear to the edges; the hashbrowns were perfectly cooked; and the BACON was crispy; outstanding!
Need I say more?!!
I leave you with these words, Visit Tag's Cafe for breakfast soon. You will be...

This is the place to go.
Every time I walk into here, I'm transported back to a different time. Where the staff knows the regulars and the regulars know the regulars.
This place transcends "restaurant" and is distilled "community" made manifest.
And the serve food too.
Good food.
I mean, really good food.
And coffee.
I've been here 20 times in the last year. And they have never missed a beat.
Friendly. Consistant. A gem far enough away from the big city to have survived the descent to blandness that blights the establishment eateries.
If you are in the area, grab a meal and enjoy the place for what it is. Don't expect it to be anything other than what it is and don't try to get them to be anything other than what they are.
Sit back, sip your coffee, enjoy the food, bask in what we used to have as a matter of commonality and that we somehow traded...
Read moreWhat happened to Tags? I've been ordering from Tags for years. Our last 3 orders have been awful! Uncooked pancakes, biscuits doughy, white gravy ? Disgusting- no flavor or sausage. 3rd last chance today.. we tried lunch. The Deluxe burger with all the fixin's burger was the size of a child's burger on a full sized bun.. we cut a third of the bread off. Should have gotten the pic but we were hungry. I ordered the Reuben. 3slices of corned beef sprinkled with sauerkraut aka hardly any. Grilled well but no meat or sauerkraut! What happened to Tags? This is nothing like what we used to get from Tags just last couple of months. It used to be good food but not anymore. 2 stars..fries were fried well. We've never gotten anything bad before but we wont ever again because We Won't be back. You lost a loyal...
