Having been to Ireland on vacation and experiencing a wee bit of dining at a castle and pubs a few years ago, it was a pleasure dining at John Martin's Miami version of Irish food on Saturday evening! The restaurant has been tastefully remodeled with comfy leather booths, dark cherry wood furniture, great wallpaper, and mood-changing, relaxing, darker lighting. I loved the exterior also, especially at night with the green neon lights! The interior is classy and cozy! Live music was playing great tunes in the background. The ambiance is great! The service there is excellent! The staff is as friendly as the Irish in Dublin were. They make you feel comfortable right away. We were greeted warmly by Natalie, who gave us a great booth to sit at. She introduced Marie to us, who was our server, and treated us like VIPs. She was very attentive the entire evening by checking on us frequently, filling our water glasses, knowing the menu, and clearly answering our questions. We met John, the manager, and Frank, the general manager, who were fun to chat with and took good care of us. We were also introduced to the owner, Tony, who has a great personality and sense of humor. He is very customer service oriented, which we appreciate. For our appetizer, we ordered the Irish Nachos. We expected them to be somewhat different from Mexican nachos, but these were too bland. Our suggestion is fewer chips, more seasoning and tomatoes on the veggies, and a different cheese. There were many menu choices that we were curious about, but we chose to share The Irishman 22oz Delmonico Ribeye with potatoes, crispy onions, onion bacon jam and a Whiskey Demi Glace Unfortunately, we both had grissel in our steaks. I'm sure that was an oversight and not the usual occurrence. We didn't send our steak back and just cut off the grissel. I was impressed by the quality of the steak knife, which was heavier and sharper than any I've used at any restaurant. I get irritated with wimpy steak knives that I have to press down hard with. We also shared the Fish 'n chips, which were delicious!! The fries were really good, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside and perfectly seasoned. Yummy. One suggestion: bigger pieces of cod. We accompanied our dinner with Malbec wine for me and an old-fashioned cocktaill for my daughter. Both were the right choice and were excellent. For dessert, we shared the banana pudding, which was awesome. We had quite a large doggie bag to take home :). We used the valet service for parking because of the heavy rainstorm. There is also street parking. We will definitely return again in the near future!

Remodeled local irish bar in Coral Gables located at miracle miles, I talked with local customers and they preferred the oldest traditional bar design , for me it’s perfect modern Irish bar design. The bar is large and comfortable, some high tops tables around the bar, room for dinner spacious and comfortable very well decorated, they use a projector screen in the dining room when there is an important game, the TV in the bar have the perfect size and good location to see from any angle of the room, good audio system. The bar have a wide variety of bourbons and Irish whiskey. I have visited this place 3 times, in the middle of the afternoon and at night, on a quiet day and at on a very busy nights by the Miami Heat basketball playoffs, very good atmosphere, happy hour from 4 to 7pm is ok, nothing incredible. The food is very delicious, most of the dishes have some slightly sweet sauce. The dishes I've tried here and I recommend: flatbread brisket, fish and chips, chicken wings (very delicious, marinated with spicy orange sauce, my favourite), john martins burger OMG what a delight with caramelized onions and roasted pork belly, perfect portion, the french fries are super crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, the dessert I recommend is the banana with bainilla ice cream and bread pudding with a touch of caramel sauce and dulce de leche and rum raisins. Cocktails I've tried: old fashioned with bourbon infused with coconut, old Cuban , I asked with Bacardi 8 (the Chinola liquor is part of their recipe ) very refreshing The manager is very attentive, bartender have good hospitality, Many is the man.

Worst experience at this place. Having just moved over from Ireland to Miami I was super excited to see that John Martins, my local pub, was showing the six nations rugby. I go along for the first half for a Guinness only to be hit with a $30 receipt. Without any prior warning, they were charging a $20 service fee for the rugby game to be shown. I complained to the bar staff and they brought the owner over. He explained that there was a sign in the window, which he showed me. The sign was placed facing out on the inside of a reflective door (see pictures below). I told him this was unacceptable to which point he picks up my sunglasses on the bar and slams them back down again (they’re now scratched and cost $150). He then swore at me and told me to leave. Wonderful treatment from my fellow countryman. Here’s a fun game...examine the first picture, and then the second - even up close it’s hard to make out the fee. Just to clarify, I’m not upset about the $20, I would’ve happily paid it had it been made clear and I’m all for paying the extra if it means supporting a local establishment to put on this type of event, but it should have been made much clearer and the treatment I received should have been much kinder.

Update: More than a month has passed and I have yet to be contacted by John Martin’s regarding my visit. Seems like they do not care for customers that had a bad experience.

Hello, unfortunately last night 3/11/23 our experience was not pleasant. My girlfriend and I had a reservation at 7:45. We did arrive 20 minutes early and it was not a problem. We were sat in a nice area which felt pretty good. Immediately when sitting down our waitress gave us water and told us that our waiter will be right with us. About 10-15 minutes later I had to wave down the waitress for our appetizer. When she came to us, she was surprised that no one had taken our order. She told us that she was not our waitress, but that she would take our order. We ordered the pork belly bites which took 15 minutes. The appetizer was delicious. Once finished, our waitress came about 10 minutes later and took our order for the main entree. My girlfriend and I ordered the classic burger medium with a side salad for her and regular fries for myself. This is where things turned for the worse. My girlfriend and I waited nearly an hour to get our food! We even put the order in before two large parties. Which our waitress was in charge of the smaller large party. After nearly waiting an hour I decided to ask the hostess where our food was since we hadn’t been checked up on. Within 2 minutes or less the manager from what we believe came to us and asked us what was wrong. I had said that the food took way too long close to 50 minutes. He said that since that happened that we can get a free dessert. We agreed and it came quickly. For the main entre the burger was pretty good, fries were great, but they forgot the side salad for my girlfriend. She told the person that brought our food that she was missing the salad. When finishing our main entree our waitress finally brings the salad. The dessert was a better experience. The waitress did apologize several times. Throughout this entire night we counted at least 3- 4 tables with 2-4 people that had sat down, were served with appetizer, main dishes, the dessert and the check while we were still there. By the time we left it was 9:33pm. It was our first time going to John Martin’s and it was extremely disappointing that this happened to us. Our waitress did what she could and I do not blame her at all. I actually gave a 20% tip. She worked hard and tried to satisfy us as much as she could. It was not a kitchen issue either because we kept seeing food being brought out quickly. We are upset because the waiter assigned to our are never attended us. The manager or managers kept walking around but never asked how everything was during our time waiting. We were asked by a gentleman with long blue sleeves rolled up how was the dessert but that was all. It felt like we were just pushed...

Met a fellow Yelper and friend at this newly renovated pub for a weekday lunch. I hate to give them a low rating but the ball was fumbled a lot especially when it comes the service. We were seated right away because truth be told it was noon and the joint wasn't packed so that's a good start. Then it just went downhill as soon as we were seated. My friend and I both asked for beers and hers came warm in a warm glass so we had to send it back but agreed that the waitress should've noticed that when she brought it. She was MIA most of the time even though the food came out pretty fast. Even to get the check at the end we had ask a different waitress to go print out our check so I hope they read these reviews and work on that a little. Now let's talk about the food that was good for the most part...

Duck flatbread: I enjoy a good flatbread and then you see "duck" and I automatically get excited because I love "duck" anything. Dough was nice and crunchy as it should be, I loved the duck confit, fig jam and goat cheese combo so it was an explosion of flavors on every bite.

Gunnies Glazed Meatballs: listen even if the meatballs weren't as delicious as they were, these grits would've saved the dish. The Guinness glazed meatballs were delicious but the grits topped with melted cheddar cheese was the star of the show. I would've order just the grits alone if I had known how flavorful and perfectly cooked it was so yeah this is a must try.

Chicken Wings: my friend couldn't get enough of these wings and I have to agree with her...some of the best wings we've had and they weren't breaded. Tossed in honey garlic and cooked to perfection, these are also a must have.

Guinness burger: we’ll we had an issue with the burger . We ordered it medium and it came out medium well so we had to send it back after waiting a long while for the waitress to show up. Again, as a server you have to pay attention to what you’re doing because you could tell from a mile away that meat was over cooked. So burger comes back and it was decent, wasn’t dry, meat was flavorful but honestly that beer sausage is overkill. I mean it doesn’t make it or break it but it doesn’t add anything to that burger. I would replace the sausage for bacon and maybe it’d elevate it a bit.

I’d consider this good bar food and most of it was delicious but this service needs work asap, that’s...
