This charming art-deco hotel is located in the heart of Coral Cables. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and helpful, but the hotel suffers from glaring infrastructural problems coupled with a lack of amenities in their rooms. Our first hotel room (which faced a back alley) was clean and quite spacious, but it did not even have a mini-fridge or a hot water kettle. There was ongoing construction (tapping/hammering) and a really loud buzzing/vibrating sound (like a motor) that made the room very noisy even late at night. The hotel manager was kind enough to change our room to an even bigger suite at no extra charge. The room was quieter (though that buzzing sound was still present at much lower volume), but again it lacked the same basic amenities.
The building, itself, is older, with the hotel room doors requiring a physical key. Opening the doors to both rooms proved tricky at times, and our key even broke when we shifted to the new room! But the hotel staff, always ready to help, were able to bring in a locksmith quickly to fix the lock and create a duplicate key. I must commend the staff for all of their efforts to make our stay better. It is just that the hotel infrastructure needs major updating - especially for the high price of...
Read moreThe hotel appears to be nice but you would feel out of place if you don’t dress apart. I was treating my parents for a nice vacation since I came to Coral Gables before. My family came in casual clothing since we just came from Miami. The atmosphere feels tense and it seems only business professionals are allowed here. The room is more for couples not for 3 people so if you have a family coming here only expect amenities to include 2 of everything (2 towel, 2 hand towels, 2 small packets of shampoo and stuff. Very little amenities is given for such a relatively high priced hotel.
The front desk and all of the staff wouldn’t give clear information about parking. I will list it here - street parking is $3.27 per hour. You get free parking from 12AM - 9 AM. They try to upsell you to park in their garage which only covers from 10 PM- 9 AM for $22.
The front desk appears to be nice but felt rushed and her mood changes when we leave like we did something wrong. All we wanted to know was about parking - very impatient.
I would recommend going to Hampton Inn or Aloft for better service. Don’t recommend...
Read moreHistoric Hotel with super friendly & attentive staff. Loved the elevator, its super rare to find one like this anymore. Our room was cozy and small, which is exactly what we needed after being out all day & wanting to have a relaxing shower & bed. The new normal in all hotels is to request to have the room cleaned, so not a problem because the ladies did a good job & they always gave us what we needed when we asked for our room ie. extra towels, tissue paper. The hotel definitely went above & beyond for my birthday helping the hubby surprise me with chocolate covered strawberries & a balloon. They did have some construction going on but it never bothered us because they didn't start until after 9am & weren't there at night. You can hear everything but no complaints because this area is super quiet, never had to deal with the highway traffic noise or with people being loud or slamming their doors at all night. We didn't have to smell any cigarette or pot smoke which is also rare. We enjoyed our stay & can recommend for a quiet, clean hotel &...
