Located in the Coral Springs Plaza, Priya's Roti Shop has the look and feel of a true West Indian shop serving homemade Trinidadian foods such as various curry or stew meats, cook to order roti (paratha or dhalpourie), phoulourie, bake & shark, doubles, and so much more. There's also homemade sweets & beverages, as well as various bottles of hot pepper sauce, spices, split channa, kuchela, and other Caribbean beverages.
I was greeted by a gentleman with a nice Trinidadian accent. I kindly asked for a menu while he tended to the other customers. The prices range from low to moderate. Lord I wish I could get a bit of everything off the menu, but I will just stick to what I mainly wanted - roti. When the gentleman was ready to take my order, I told him I wanted boneless curry chicken which was served with my choice of dhalpourie roti and curry potato. I also ordered six doubles and a bottle of mauby. There was a bit of a wait cause the roti had to be made, which I didn't mind at all. Then he made the doubles. I watched him as he laid down two bara (flatbread) then scooped some curried channa (chick peas) on each, toppings them with tamarind and cucumber chutney.
Your girl was in foodie heaven. I started with one of the doubles which was absolutely delicious! The flavors of the curried channa and both chutneys complemented each other nicely, and the barra had a yummy texture...moving on...the curry chicken and potato was also delicious and flavorful with a mild pepper kick. At times I broke pieces of the roti to pick up some chicken and/or potato like a true islander.
The atmosphere was truly relaxing with Indian music softly playing in the background. I was casually drinking the mauby which was lightly sweet and refreshing. I am definitely looking forward on coming back to try other foods, especially the...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE! If I could give ZERO stars I would. Justin’s costumer service is horrible. Several times I made food orders for pickup. We agreed on a pick up time and I was there on time for my food. However, upon my arrival Justin said he sold my food to someone else because he claimed he wasn’t sure if I was coming for it. How he wasn’t sure is unexplainable because I arrived exactly at the time he gave me for pickup. Then to make matters worse he had the nerve to tell me to come back in an hour. He did this on multiple occasions which was very disrespectful of the costumers time and inconvenient because I needed the food for my planned events that ended but starting with no food for my guests. I looked past all of this and still gave him business one more time only for him to over charge me by $20! When I brought it to his attention he blamed it on my bank. Just to appease him I spoke with my bank and they informed me that there is no way for the bank to change the amount of money that an establishment charges and the overcharge came from his end. I tried to relay this message to Justin and he rudely hung up the phone on me which was unacceptable. Priya’s Roti Shop food is mediocre to begin with but I still believed in supporting local businesses. However, due to his poor costumer service and lack of basic human decency he has lost future business from my family and I. I’m sure I am not the only customer to receive ill treatment from this establishment and I urge those who have to speak up and those who haven’t yet to stay away. Spend your hard earned money on businesses that actually value and appreciate...
Read moreThis place was recommended to me for their roti by a coworker. Decided to try it out with my sister when we were in the area. They get an A for customer service but the food quality overall would be a D - being generous. We tried the doubles - they were pretty good. Also tried the also pie- it was ok, a little tasty but a bit lacking in potato filling. We ordered 3 curry chicken with extra gravy to go and when we got home and opened the containers it was like boiled chicken. The gravy for curry is supposed to be semi thick. This grave was like 2 cups of water in the container The curry lacked curry flavor. We were told it came with channa and potato which is traditional with curry chicken and roti but there were just big pieces of potatoes floating around. Unfortunately this was absolutely the worst curry I have ever had. I am sorry but I would not return nor recommend this place if you want real Trini food. Sorry Priyas first and last time coming to...
