The Sauce Pot looks like it has potential for being a good local sub/hoagie pizza shop - but based on one Monday lunchtime visit - on a drive from Washington, DC to Chicago - this place was a disappointment and didn't live up to the previous reviewer's comment about "steak and cheese hoagies at its best". There appear to be a lot of better choices on 4th and 5th streets.
The steak and cheese hoagies were light on meat, onions, and peppers and fairly tasteless. The supreme - with lettuce and tomatoes - was a bit better than the regular sandwich. The prices were fair. Also tried the Italian wedding soup - this was very good- a very tasty chicken broth base (I think), with tasty small meatballs, and lots of pasta bits, and without unnecessary salt.

Their policy is they make one or the other and the customer is told they will in no way change their policy of only serving one pasta. There is no advanced notice which will be served on any given day. THEY ONLY COOK ONE. They will not prepare what is asked for if it's the wrong day.
