I had the MOST TERRIBLE experience with this bakery today. My daughter was having her birthday photo shoot, and the cake that I placed an order for was never made. The employees who took my order obviously wrote down my information incorrectly, despite me having been a previous customer. However I gave a specific date that I had reached out prior to that with pictures on their Facebook page, along with my name, and they did not use that mode to contact me either. Instead, they never actually went through with my order. They said they could make the cake for me later in the day after I had already taken off work for the morrning, but they said they would not be willing to offer any sort of discount for the inconvenience. This is the absolute worst form of customer service, and I will never recommend them again! I am very disappointed the manager did not even have the courtesy to speak with me. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Pick another bakery, and support someone who cares for their customers!
In response to the below “reply” from Sweet Cakes:
Unfortunately when I called your employee did not let me know that I had to pay on the spot, otherwise I gladly would have immediately. Additionally they wrote down my contact information incorrectly (this is the reason you had trouble reaching me...even though you could have reached out via Facebook, assuming your employee took the notes that I specified), and told me that 10 AM would be the time for pick up. When I called and you offered to make it on the spot. you said 12 PM, so that would be a two hour difference long after the photo session was supposed to take place. Additionally, whenever a customer has to be put on hold multiple times while an employee goes back-and-forth to talk to the manager, the professional response would be to speak directly to the customer, considering this was your employee’s error for not understanding the process! I want to ensure customers are not left without a cake on their child’s birthday. Thankfully another bakery was able to accommodate my request right away! Hopefully in the future you will try to keep your customers versus loose them (I was a repeat customer- I spent $100’s or dollars with your bakery), due to you be unwilling to admit your error and at least offer a small discount for the inconvenience. However, despite all of this, I do wish you the best and hope you learn how to better respond to other customers...
Read moreThis is painful to post as a daughter of two separate small business owners but as a parent on a budget I feel like I have a responsibility to share my experience.
Two weeks ago I called this bakery to get a quote on 48 mini vegan cupcakes (24 chocolate & 24 vanilla) with pink and purple frosting. The quote was for $84 and the person on the phone took all of my personal information and said when I was ready to come pay they’ll officially place the order. $84 for 48 minis coincides with the pricing on their website. Two days ago I put in an inquiry online just to make it easier on myself as I’m nearing my pregnancy’s due date and I live in Mooresville so I was hoping to not have to drive 30 minutes just to pay. The price on the email’s response inquiry was $140 which I questioned in my response email as these are mini cupcakes not full size ones. I didn’t receive a response email for a few hours so I decided to just make the drive and pay - fully expecting the price to be $84 + tax and thinking the person through email was wildly mistaken.
I walked in to the bakery and they searched for 5+ minutes for my inquiry/order even though I called two weeks ago and gave them my information and I did the online inquiry + email correspondence. When the baker lady came back to tell the cashier the price would be $140+ tax I again questioned if they knew I wanted mini cupcakes not full size ones. Baker lady said the $140 was for the minis because they are considered to be customized. I asked her if the pink and purple colored frosting is what she’s referring to and she said yes that if I only wanted white frosting on them they would not be considered custom.
I said no thanks and walked out. You can not justify an additional $60 for adding a little bit of food coloring to your frosting. I wasn’t asking for vibrant colors either they were pastel pink and pastel purple - I sent them pictures of the shades - it would have been like two tiny drops of food dye to the frosting.
I’m all for supporting small businesses and I understand they need to make a profit but Sweet Cakes lost me at $60 for their food coloring up charge for a 4 year olds birthday party mini...
Read moreResponse To Owner: I did explain how dry the cupcakes were and compared that to the service I received. I did not have a "down right fantastic" experience when I visited as you expressed your views of your team. The young lady was not rude, or unhelpful...she was dry, almost cold and unemotional helping me. Very legitimate review by the way.
I wont be returning, no worries. I have in fact been a customer for years, that is also explained in my review. I gave specific details about the way the company has changed. Facts and details are not malicious nor false.
My name is listed...I am the Buyer Of Things, just not your product anymore. Seems you are looking for fake positive reviews... here is a few pictures of my “fake review” cupcakes. Be blessed.
Original review: I have purchased cupcakes from sweet cakes for years. I have not been here in some time. I won’t be back, the customer service is almost as dry as the cupcakes.
I had to salvage what I could to pull them out of the box because these dry tiny little puny cupcakes crumble and fall apart as well as don’t fit the boxes for the “ new and improved” recipes the owner boasts about in their replies. Icing smushed, cupcakes falling apart, very expensive mistake. I ordered regular cupcakes not minis for those thinking that.
Sad part is my 3 and 6 year old said “no thanks and yucky” after tasting the first bites. I had to try them because what kid doesn’t want sweets. Well, they were hard and tasted like cheap stale grocery store cupcakes. I was already astonished by how small they have gotten for as much as they charge for them. There are plenty of better spots for sweets here.
This spot was convenient and had awesome choices with phenomenal cupcakes. Just seems like a resale company for old outdated cupcakes now. What...
