Solid seafood place. Tried the scallop basket with the onion rings. Others in the group had the shrimp basket, shrimp poor boy, fish & chips and calamari and the chowder. For the shrimp and scallops were battered and breaded. They were cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The batter was crunchy but not overwhelming and you could taste the seafood. The fish was battered and crispy, flakey and well seasoned. The calamari was money. It was very crispy and tender. Maybe some of the best I've had. The chowder was probably the weakest of the day, it was well seasoned and creamy but overwhelmed the seafood, so just okay. The frys/onion rings were crispy, hot and just a bit salty for me. Price wise it is higher than what you can get mainland. It's a small shop and can get really busy during peak times. Overall everyone liked what they got and are more then willing to go back.

Head to the back corner of the shopping center and turn right at the hammock store. You will find a treasure. This is the only place I have found in Corolla that has clams. Of course, there are many excellent choices on the menu here - but I always pick the clam basket. They are fried (how else would you eat them?) perfectly and the taste is clean and fresh. Perfect size strips and breaded just enough for crunchy texture and taste. These are worth the 7 hour drive for me. Others in our group had the burger and salad. I also had the clam chowder. It was tasty and the clam pieces were substantial and tender. Definitely made on site. The soda fountain here has Cheerwine and I love that. Not a common thing back home. Come in a have a seat (or carry out) some excellent seafood items. PS. PBR can $2. Best deal in town.

The restaurant was not busy when we arrived for an early dinner, there were 4 in our party. We ordered 2 steamers of 1lb crab legs, fried shrimp , fried oysters and hush puppies, the bill was $120 for 4, which is fine if the issues would have been addressed. The soda fountain was not working, tanks needed changed. We let them know as soon as we sat down, but we were half way thru our meal before it was addressed after asking 3x and another family having issues. 1 order of crab legs were still cold, sent back and took 20 minutes to correct (everyone else was done eating). And, for $31 for a lb of crab legs it would be nice to have the tools to eat them. There was only a cracker and no forks except for a plastic fork which was useless to get the meat out of the shells. I was told they had no options other than a plastic fork.

Mama Easley's is a spot that's got its own groove, and it's definitely worth talking about. The food? Yeah, it's pretty darn decent. But what sets this place apart is the way they do things – it's a little different, but in a cool way.

First off, the food. It hits the spot, no doubt. From comfort classics to tasty bites with a twist, they've got a range that's hard to resist. It's that kind of place where you can count on getting a satisfying meal every time you stop by.

Now, here's where things get interesting. You order your food at the counter. That's right, you pick out what you want, just like you would at a fast-casual joint. But then comes the twist – you find a seat, get comfortable, and simply say, "Bring me my food!" It's like the best of both worlds – the casual ease of ordering and the anticipation of table service.

Speaking of the setup, it's got this vibe that could make you think it's full-service, but it's not. They've managed to create an atmosphere that's inviting and relaxed, making you feel like you're in for a treat. It's like they've turned the ordering process into part of the experience.

You might think it would be a bit confusing, but it's surprisingly seamless. The staff is super friendly and makes sure you're all set up. It's like they've figured out how to make this unique ordering style work effortlessly.

All in all, Mama Easley's is a place that marches to the beat of its own drum, and it's working. Great food, a decent ordering setup, and an ambiance that strikes a balance between casual and inviting. If you're up for something a little different – and a lot tasty – this spot is well worth a visit. So go on, order up, take a seat, and let the goodness come to you. With its unique twist on the dining experience, Mama Easley's has carved out a memorable niche that's definitely...

My daughter picked this place for us -- based on the reviews and our varied preferences she thought it might be a winner.

It was.

It was right up there competing with our other favorite Corolla restaurant and that's a hard record to keep up with.

I want to say early on thought, that it's kind of hard to find, and it's kind of hard to navigate your way into the system.

The restaurant is nestled back in a corner of a series of tourist shops and restaurants and it would be easy to miss (that's one reason I took a picture of the outdoors afterward). After you arrive, too, there's some confusion (at least as a first-timer) because a long long line stretched down a hallway and it's hard to guess whether you're ordering, waiting to reserve a seat with a hostess, or who knows what might be happening? A hostess did come down the hall a moment after we arrived and asked if we were "to-go" or eat-in -- we said we were eating here, but it still wasn't clear whether the line was for us. Other customers seemed to be waiting for food to take home.

She came back a few minutes later and led us out onto a lovely deck overlooking a little pond and mini-golf course. The vibe was VERY casual and the restaurant itself was incredibly crowded and difficult to navigate, but these minor first impressions were blown away by the fish we ordered. Really perfect fish and chips.

My boyfriend said he had a dream about them the next night.

We'll go back and probably give it a five star review since we now know that the early crazy experience is just a part of the charm and the food makes it...

Love it for what it is

Look, this is less of a restaurant and more like a food stand or food truck. And that's ok. Limited menu, mostly fried food baskets of fried shrimp and other seafood, plus a few burgers, chicken sandwiches. They all come with one side like fries or sweet potato tots, etc. They have sodas, tea, and beer to drink.

The one really cool dish we had was the fired green tomatoes which were excellent and tasty.

It may sound like I'm complaining about the food. I'm not. You just have to set your expectations to food truck level food.

And here's the thing. Everything we ordered was piping hot, fresh out of the fryer or off the grill. It was hot, cripsy and tasted good. And that's what you want from this kind of place.

From a food perspective, as long as you have the right expectations from this place, I give it five stars for what it is.

The only reason I give it four stars is because the tiny dining room only has two tables and they are crowded. I think there may be some outdoor seating as well, but...
