Okinawa sushi & grill — Restaurant in Corolla

My wife and I moved down to OBX (Corolla) recently from a sushi hotbed in NoVA, and after a while I started to crave my sushi fix. After settling in, we finally discovered Okinawa Sushi & Grill, which as a bonus, is open during the offseason. Winner winner chicken (sushi) dinner! :) Meeting and conversing with Nina, the sushi chef, is worth the experience alone. She's an absolute sweetheart and oh by the way... she makes the most amazing sushi rolls; we haven't tried them all yet (we hope to!) but the ones we have tried have all been amazing. One of my favorite bites, the Yellowtail Nigiri, comes with a nice blend of scallions which adds to the flavor (many times that's overlooked...) And all of the specialty rolls are decadent. Nina even customizes your selection as needed (e.g., spice level on the spicy tuna roll.) The service is timely, attentive, and affectionate. Sharon paid attention to seemingly every detail and ensured our night was as pleasant as possible. Nothing is ever missed at Okinawa. If your travels take you to Corolla, whether in the offseason or the busy season, definitely make an effort to visit Okinawa as I guarantee you'll have a wonderful experience! Last night we came in here to get a quick appetizer as we had a 2 hour wait for North Banks where we go every year for oysters. This place totally blew us away with the few things we got. I saw another review here mention the restaurant has a smell to it, well that smell is from their miso soup, which was the first thing we ordered. It was so good and clearly made from scratch and cooking on the stove through the day making the flavor all the more delicious.

After soup we got crab rangoons and they were the best crab rangoons of my entire life. And I get rangoons anywhere that they are serving rangoons. And I travel all over the world with my work. So this is to say, these are some of the best rangoons in the world.

My review is for the way my ordered was handled. I came in and ordered 4 meals and paid. When handed my food I was told they forgot to charge me for one of my meals and told me that I needed to pay $15 more. Mind you my total was already $46. I said I can’t do that. ( The reason why is because somebody was paying for my food so when I received the total they sent me the money. So I wasn’t going to have them send me more money so of course I gave my food to my kids because I wasn’t going to have them be without. ) I was over charged for my food in the first place by not ringing me up right so I definitely wasn’t going to give them $15 more.
