Birdies Wings and Bar — Restaurant in Corpus Christi

This place gave me and my fiance SEVERE FOOD POISONING! The food tasted great, but within 45 minutes of eating the wings... we were both in the restroom with explosive uncontrollable D&V. It was so bad, I ended up in the emergency room because I had vomited to oblivion and was feeling like I was going to die. I have NEVER Been sicker in my whole entire life... and this is the only meal my fiance and I have eaten that was the same all weekend. The manager also refused to refund my $65 and I just did not believe I should've had to pay even $1 for ending up in the condition I was in. I didn't ask him to pay my hospital bills, or the money my partner is losing by missing work for two days...or the cost of our medication. Simply just asked for my money back --also, the remaining 14 wings we did not eat were thrown in the garbage. I have hospital documentation confirming I had food poisoning and Birdie's was the only thing I'd eaten yesterday when this happened. I went to a restaurant today to try to get some food & was sharing my experience with the owner and a customer heard me & said "ME AND MY sister also got food poisoned there a while back!!!" 😳😳 So be aware corpus christi! The manager will basically accused you of lying or being untruthful and refuse to take accountability when you do end up sick as hell AND YOU WILL PAY FOR IT AS WELL! 🤢🤢 I also got charged 18% "large party gratuity" when I was one person, paying alone. We went to Birdies for lunch. This was our first time here. We arrived at about 1:15. We were promptly greeted and showed to our table. The place was busy, but not crowded. We ordered the six pack of steak fingers with fries and a side of the roasted corn. Our food came out to us within about 15 minutes. The steak fingers came with our choice of two different dipping sauces, and your choice of white or brown gravy. Before we ordered, we asked if we could sample some of the dipping sauces and they were happy to bring us a few samples. We chose the Korean sauce and the pineapple habanero to go with our meal. The steak fingers were nicely breaded, and the meat was tender. The french fries were well cooked and came out hot. The roasted corn that we ordered tasted like it came straight out of a can. It had no seasoning on it and it certainly didn’t taste roasted. For a side dish it was a large portion, but for the flavor m, we sent it back. It was nothing like we expected. The Korean sauce was very tasty, the habanero pineapple sauce was nice and it had a little bit of heat not would you expect from something with habaneros in it. It is a bit on the mild side. They do have a ghost pepper sauce, which I think I will try the next time. we do look forward to coming back. We want to try their wings and they have a couple of burgers that we want to try also. Would give this place 1 star for the food and service but we didn’t get that far to it not even drinks. 15 minutes in I called the manager over and asked for our waitress to order drinks but left instead. While 3 other parties who got there after us got their drinks and ordered. Spoke to the manager who was polite but the waitress serving the section looked at us every time and even called out to her she kept walking by and ignoring us. Sat right in front of the bar while all the waitress and waiters were standing and talking. If you’re hungry and want to try this place just keep driving don’t stop and waste your time. I didn’t get the manager name but he is wearing glasses with a beard thank you for trying to keep us to stay but your waitresses service needs to be reevaluated or have her a buzz girl.
