Golden Crown Inn — Restaurant in Corpus Christi

2025 Edit: So I'm editing this post. Idk what happened (new owners or change in management) but the food is really good now. I'm not a fan of the hot and sour but i would eat it as is. The fried rice is amazing! Even better than before. Non of the food lacks flavor and other dishes I tried are on par with what I consider really really good. Just so everyone knows I was tricked into eating this establishments food and I was glad. I had a grudge that I held for a very long time but whatever they did, really really shows. Good job guys!

2023:Food was hot garbage. I got the fried rice with hot and sour soup and an order of egg rolls. Fried rice had no flavor at all. All the meat that came with it lacked flavor as well.

The worst was the hot and sour soup. It was spicy egg drop with a few bamboo shoots. Lacked any color whatsoever and tasted like egg drop soup.

It's sad when you see a place you know and love go down the toilet. I ate there for nearly 15 years and now I'm never going back again.

So this is now 2 years later. I was convinced by someone that it has changed. So i got the original order: combo fried rice. And this is my honest review. I shouldnt have to add hoisen, sauce, oyster sauce, chili sauce, msg and soy in order to achieve something that remotely resembles the old fried rice. You have permanently lost a customer and i will never give this place a chance ever again. I used to frequent this restaurant at least twice a month and spend upwards of 40 dollars or more each time. I wont even take this...

Today I got off a tough day of work earlier than I normally do and decided to go eat somewhere I havent been since the pandemic, Golden Crown. I took my family with me and I was greeted with a friendly and attentive waiter. The place was familiar, but noticed some differences. I ordered what I used to, Hunan Delight and it was different than what it used to be. I realized that it was good different. It was excellently flavorful, great portion and fairly spicy, the way it should be. It was never this good before. I definitely feel like I got my money's worth. I also had an appetizer of fried wontons that tasted delicious and meaty, along with an egg drop soup that is in contender for the best egg drop soup I've ever had. My family had different plates each and they all were making similar compliments. My son Walt got the Happy Family and he loved it. It was his first time there and even asked if we can come back to try other dishes. My wife ordered combination fried rice and she finished her food when she never does. Before leaving, the owner made sure we had a pleasant experience and we had a friendly conversation about how the new ownership and my compliments to the cook. I assured him we'd be back. I have to keep my promise to my son and cant wait to eat that Hunan...

I been coming here for a while and never have I ever been charged for duck sauce or a card fee this people are a rip off they over pricing everyone now and want to charge they clients a 3% card fee along with 5 cents per duck sauce and then they have a beat down speaker in where u have to scream and repeat the order several times and then they still get the order wrong. The last Silva is by far very rude and no customer service what so ever! Do not waste ur money here or bring ur family here. You will leave with bad energy from theses people are trying to charge they customers for every single thing. They need to shut this place down. They also have so much flies at the window flying in and out of the drive threw window. Never use to be like this. They just lost a customer over the lady Silva with a nasty attitude and trying to charge me 5 cents per duck sauce. What a joke! They also put that ur average for one person to spend here is $10 and that’s incorrect because they are overcharging people she charged me for my self only a chicken fried rice and two order of chicken wings $32.42.
