This is the first time I have been here since it changed hands yet again , but I was in area and thought why not. The place looks the same as always , no changes , no improvements , looked a little tired and old for a brand new place. But I was here for the food. They came pretty quick with our drinks , but had to wait to put in food order and waitress did not describe the sauce on the dish I asked about , so I ordered it. Should have ordered a different version , which she did point to that was available. It was shrimp enchiladas with Verde sauce , it was not jalapeno or cilantro , it was tomatillo, I did not care for it , it seemed to bitter for me and definitely overwhelmed the shrimp. The good news ; plenty of shrimp and I did like the tortilla and there was not a crazy amount of cheese. Loved the refried beans ( and I don't normally like beans) the rice was OK , a white rice with peas and carrotts. The chips were ok , might have been better if hot , they were thick and tasted a little stale. The table salsa was very good , not too hot and not too bland. My husband had a #1 he said it was ceviche that was cooked , it had shrimp , scallops , and octopus. He was not a fan of the sauce , overwhelmed the seafood. I thought it had a strong taste as well. I did get a pastry at the register, but as I went to lift the lid , the cashier snatched box out of my hand , I don't know why she was so rude other than I was only non Hispanic in restaurant, but I go all over town and always lift lid to see what looks good. Overall they had alot on menu that was different and so we will go back...
Read moreWe went during breakfast hours. The food is good but it can be better, it's got potential. The hot sauces are good. My favorite was the Habanero sauce. The chilaquiles could use some improvement. Maybe don't use paprika and definitely use freshly made tomato sauce. The beans & the freshly made potatoes were on point. As for the migas taco, it was definitely good. For the french toast plate: The eggs were good, the bacon was a little too hard, and the french toast was definitely not good. The bread was too hard, it almost looked and tasted like the plate sat there for a while and then it was put in the microwave to heat it up. I'm guessing if it comes out fresh, it would taste much better. The chips were good. As for the coffee, I believe it could be better if they changed brands. I don't know if maybe it just wasn't fresh. I will definitely go back to try out their dinner menu. Also, when we went up to pay the lady at the cash register, she never asked how everything was, not a smile or thank you after we paid. This is very important to customers nowadays, in my opinion. Greeting customers with a smile to make them feel welcome and also being thankful for coming to your restaurant goes a long way in this business industry. Even if the food is not great, one will always come back for the great service provided. At least I've done it in the past with other places. But no worries, I will give your restaurant another try for dinner. Hopefully, the customer service will be a...
Read moreWhile incase getting my hair done at the Crown Jewel, we talked about food and how I like ceviche and in CC where I first tried it. My stylist mentioned this place. While I was getting my hair done I looked at the reviews and yeah I can relate to slow service, it wasn't to too bad. I got here at 1115am, still here 1342, but food was awesome I ordered shrimp ceviche tostadas. There were plenty.
I had enough to make another but I used the salsa chips I had. Margaritas were decent.
I don't need or ask for much when dining but as seen on the reviews they're not as attentive but for me it wasn't too bad and they were attentive. So I suppose they staff you might get during hours. I was left alone but when I needed something it wasn't as bad as the reviews I read.
I would def come back. As far as Spanish speaking yes they did but they understood my English. So idk what time of day previous people came...I had no issues.
Great food, I'm...
