Santa Rosa Restaurant — Restaurant in Corpus Christi

2 years ago was the first time eating here, we were visiting from Kentucky. There was seven of us in the party at the last minute before they closed surprisingly they accommodated us and what a surprise we got. The food was excellent and very authentic Mexican food, down to the flour tortillas, they were homemade. The pricing was very good for every meal they had. The outside we were very skeptical because it did not seem like the overcharming high priced other Mexican restaurants, but inside was so much different, felt like a down-to-earth style restaurant. Well we visited again 2 years later finding it to be just the same with the same high quality food. Enjoyed the atmosphere, it wasn't too noisy, very spacious inside, service was great, but the food was even better. Everything had that authentic Mexican taste that we all desired. Oh and the portions were tremendous, they did not skimp on anything, the refried beans to my surprising was not like some of those that we got before other places where they were slightly runny and spread out to make it look like a more abundant, these beans where thick and tasty, full of flavor as was...

I am giving Santa Rosas a 4 Star. I am going to Start this review with the Negative: I asked the waitress no meat in my burrito and she asked 3 times and said ok no meat. She never said there was meat in the sauce. I asked politely if she can retrieve me a different item. And she said no cause she asked me 3 times. And then she said no cause I moved it. So I just ate the sides ( rice and beans) and they tried to charge me for the plate. Spoke to the manager and he said well she told you 3 times. And I told him you can charge me for the sides but please don’t charge me for the whole plate. And he said ok ( while the waitress watching and talking mess) Positive: The food I did taste was Absolutely great! The salsa was perfect and the beans were very exquisite. Rice was Delicious with hints of corn. Wish I could’ve experienced there...

I called ahead of time to find out what the lunch special was and it was Calabasa con Pollo, so we ordered two plates through the drive-through when I got home mine had no calabasa which was the reason I had ordered this , I live far from there, it not easy just to return to prove to them, I told them I could provide pictures, we also waited for quite a while before receiving our order, mind you were were the only ones in the drive through, the other plate you could tell had been warmed in microwave to the point the container bubbled up, I called this morning and the man that answered was very rude, saying it was policy to return the food back that day, check your order before leaving!
