I'm giving this 4 stars because this is a small business and ultimately they gave what they offered: all you can eat sushi buffet. My review is that the sushis often had more rice to filling, and filling was less fish than everything else. Most rolls have a lot of sauce toppings, there were a few rolls also had what I think were spicy cheetoh dust, and most rolls were also filled with imitation crab making for a somewhat limited variety if crab is not your interest. Sashimi is sliced thinly with 6 sashimis on coming out on a tray at a time. Self serve for everything. For some people this is all bonuses, it all comes down to personal preference, but this wasnt exactly what I was expecting when I read the other reviews. Fresh watermelon, canteloupe and grapes. The lighting is very, very dim, and it is cold so don't forget a jacket. 18.99 for one person is reasonable, I just...
Read moreThe place was super dark and quiet, which felt a little weird for the time of day we went, but the food was really good. We never were brought our ginger and wasabi, but I'll give grace here since the actual food was good. Self-service single serve drinks are in a fridge, and then about 15 choices of sushi rolls and nigiri. There was also a calamari salad abs a seaweed salad and a few fruit choices. Mostly the popular rolls you know, like California, but a couple of special ones like Corpus Christi. The rolls are big and fresh, and everything comes out to an even $18 each with drink and tax. There are some other menu items that are extra, like kids menu items, lumpia and noodles too. We tried the lumpia and they were the best I've had. The order was too much for the 2 of us so it's a large order.
This is a GREAT place and I'd definitely go back for the...
Read moreHighly recommended. The best dedicated sushi buffet in Corpus Christi hands down! It’s quite affordable now at $15 +tax as of 2023 but you and I shouldn’t be surprised if the price goes up. The staff and employees are very kind and attentive. Sushi variety & other options are currently limited but are always made fresh. If they added gyozas, edamame, calamari, noodles and rice to the menu or served some sort of alcohol at an additional charge; Umiyah would probably be put out of business as much as I love them. In a modern way the dining environment is dark, intimate, calm, and quite spacious. Definitely not a place for obnoxiously loud people or Karen’s. Absolutely worth every single...
